Porcupine Tree's first album for K-Scope/Snapper starts out with a definite bang -- "Even Less," with some of the quartet's biggest, blasting rock epic music yet, yet also shot through with the gentler, acoustic side that makes Porcupine Tree so intimate and lovely. Stupid Dream songs The net result easily calls Yes to mind, but Steven Wilson's not so high-pitched as Jon Anderson and Richard Barbieri completely avoids Rick Wakeman's extreme idiocies -- prog that knows when less is more. With that as a fine signal for the album as a whole, Stupid Dream takes it from there -- Wilson as a songwriter and singer both sounds recharged and more ambitious, while the group collectively pours it on. Stupid Dream album The loud passages feel truly sky-smashing, the calmer ones perfectly close, and the overall sense of build and drama -- "A Smart Kid" is a fine example -- spot-on. One of PT's Best!!
I have most of PT's CDs and found this one to have many fresh guitar riffs and stunning lyrical messages - a great piece of work. Bravo !!!

Just the best
i love this album,this band is the reason i have spent thousands on new speakers for the full 5.1 surround experience. this band is at the forefront of musical quality today, they have revitilised my interest in music as a whole, this album is one of there best, a little more laid back than there newest offerings, but every track is a triumph. they take great care in the recording and mixing of there work, and it shows. great album and great band, listen, enjoy and be thankfull that really great music is alive and well.

Amazing!
I can't say enough about this album I have listened to it for hours on and end. I found nothing wrong with it was executed very well and is in my top listen of greatest albums of all time.

Stereo or DTS ?
For me DTS 5.1 gives a new dimension for the sound. Good idea Mr Wilson to make it on dvd support. A porcupine tree's fan

This CD makes a great argument that we should be allowed to give 6 stars in certain cases because if there is a CD that deserves it, this is it!!! WOW!!!
