To the Metal! songs Product Information
To the Metal! album for sale by Gamma Ray was released Feb 08, 2010 on the Ear label. Gamma Ray, formed by Kai Hansen, formerly of Helloween, in 1989, have become something of a power metal institution at this point. Far from the pomp and shred-happiness of 1990s-2000s acts like HammerFall and DragonForce, though, Gamma Ray's vision of power metal is one that harks back to the early-'80s sound of Judas Priest, Accept, and even Scorpions. To the Metal! CD music is a 2-disc set with 11 songs. ...See Full Description

||Better than the 2 previous albums, energetic and strong|
Gamma Ray come back to strong form after their last two mediocre releases. "To The Metal" contains some of the bands best guitar work in years, fast double bass tracks, heavy mid-tempo songs and two ballads. The best tracks on offer are the fast paced "All You Need To Know" with Michael Kiske's (ex-Helloween) vocals on the chorus, the speedy and epic "Rise", the catchy heavy metal track "Time To Live" and the aggressive and at the same time uplifting "Shine On". There are also a couple of weak tracks to be found here such as well as the Judas Priest inspired title track and the ballad No Need To Cry. A strong modern Gamma Ray album and much better than Majestic and Land Of The Free II.

||Gamma Gamma Hey Hey!|
Well Gamma Ray's latest cd arrived a few days ago and has been in heavy rotation in the cd player. I really like this record.A better effort than the last one. More variety and a great production. I always liked picking out the various riff similarities between the Rays songs and what I feel influenced them. No different hear. You can hear the obvious Priest,Maiden,Rainbow and Queen!references. The album opens with what this reviewer feels is the strongest track "Empathy" A great brooding number with great vocals from Kai and a riff during the verse which bring to mind Rainbow's "Eyes Of The World".The beginning guitar solo even has a Blackmore flavor to it. I won't go thru track by track,but other highlights include"All You Need To Know" which features former Helloween singerMicheal Kiske on vocals in the chorus. "Time To Live" a Henjo penned upbeat rocker that is real catchy and I dare you not to sing along!The title track is more than a little remanisentod Priest's"Metal Gods".A good cruchy metal song. Deadlands' is another fave and all thru this record the band members proformances are top notch."Rise" starts out sounde alot,I mean ALOT like recent Maiden with killer bass work before kicking into pure Ray thunder. Kai and Henjo play some great solos,Dirk's bass puches you in the gut and Zimm's drum work is killer.This is a great sounding record with alot of great songs. I almost forgot,the closing track is a great ballad-esq number with an unusual mid section featuring acoustic guitars and some interesting vocals from Kai. Not everyone may like this number,but i love it. The bonus dvd is a nice compliment to the record. You see the band in the studio rehearsing and working out stuff. They go the album track by track and expand on each song. I found it very informative.Some of the guys comand of English is not too great so expect to read a fair amount of subtitles! All in all a killer release from Gamma Ray.

||This is Great Heavy Metal|
To The Metal is the best song on this cd. If this were 1980, Gamma Ray would be headlining a world tour with Iron Maiden and Def Leppard supporting. This is really great stuff. Also, the new Scorpions is excellent, the Slave Me song is Metal at it's finest.
