||Thumbs Down for POOR Sound Quality|
Original Album Series CD music I love Linda Ronstedís music. Original Album Series buy CD music I have all of her great albums in the original packaging from the 1970ís. Original Album Series songs One thing that I have always loved is the outstanding sound quality of the original LPís. When I saw that Rhino had released in England, a special box set with 5 of Lindaís best albums, I had to get it. Now, letís be clear here, these are 5 of Lindaís best albums per England, not really the USA. The box set has Prisoner in Disguise, Simple Dreams, Back in the USA, Mad Love, and Cry like a Rain Storm - Howl like the Wind. For the USA, the album lineup would probably have been Heart lika a Wheel, Prisoner in Disguise, Hasten Down the Wind, Simple Dreams, and Back in the USA. The box set has the 5 albums in mini LP jackets, which is actually somewhat cool. I was a little disappointed to see that they were not the gatefold jackets of the US releases. However, a little research showed that for the most part, the LPís were released over seas in non-gatefold jackets so this was the correct configuration for this box set. There is no inserts or any liner notes. Just the 5 albums and an outer box, which to me was a bit cheesy. As this is some what of a collection of 5 historical albums, a small book would have been nice with maybe a little history from Linda or a staff writer at Rhino? However, as there is no other collection like this, Iíll take it for what it is. Now, hereís where things fall apart. The original LPís have OUTSTANDING sound quality. I was very disappointed in the sound quality of this box set. It sounds very 2 dimensional and foggy. The first thought that I had was that someone downloaded all the MP3ís of the songs and burned them onto a CDÖ Very crude sound quality! If you are serious about soundÖdonít waist your money on this. Find the original recordings and make your own compilation! If you donít care about sound quality, just download the music from MP3ís to your iPod and save the money!!! Sorry, but this is a MAJOR disappointment from Rhino! My rating is a 2 out of 5 starsÖand thatís really being nice.
