| Classic album A real classic hard rock album! Simple fantastic. By Luiz from Brazil (Sao Paulo Brazil) This review is for a different format. |
| Long Live Rainbow! If Dio stuck to this kind of music until magica, he would have been the undisputed king of rock. This album IS the album. I mean, Kill the king, Gates of Babylon, Long Live rock'n'roll and Rainbow Eyes. All of these tracks lifted up Rainbow up in the sky, where the band belonged in the begining. Gates of Babylon is a track so unqiue that you can't find any new metal bands of the 90s or 2000 affording to make such a cut. The artwork is admirable beside the one underrated hit "Rainbow Eyes" Wake up in the morning and rock on "Long Live Rock'n'Roll" and turn off the lights and sleep on "Rainbow Eyes" Essential to rock and metal fans! | The best Rainbow ever released! When I first heard this record 20 years ago, I was completely blown away. The lyrical content on this release proves that Ronnie James Dio is the undisputed KING of metal. "Lady of the Lake" is an incredible ode to the Arthurian Quest. "Gates of Babylon" is simply brilliant. "Rainbow Eyes" is an ode to a lost love. If you like Dio or Dio-era Black Sabbath, then you will LOVE this CD. The line up on this is top notch, and Cozy Powell's drumming is incredible. By a reviewer (Jax, FL, USA) This review is for a different format. |
| great! get this and 'rainbow rising. ' its all the 'rainbow' you will ever need. By cygnusx001 (pittsburgh, pa) This review is for a different format. |
| One of the All-Time Greats. "Gates of Babylon" alone makes the disk worth the purchase. "Long Live Rock and Roll" and "Rainbow Eyes" capture these performers at the top of their form. "Kill the King" is as powerful here as on "On Stage." After you get comfortable with this one, check out Yngwie's interpretation of "Gates of Babylon" on "Inspiration."
