| Long Live The Kinks!
It's been a long time since I had this one on vinyl but I have to say the engineers did a beautiful job mastering the sound on this masterpiece. I first discovered this album in the '70's and while I bought it for Ray's splendid "Waterloo Sunset", I just did cartwheels over brother Dave's "Death Of A Clown" Listen to this album and you'll quickly discover why the Kinks became a timeless legend among their fans. Five stars just aren't enough for this incredible piece of music history!

| Get this American stereo version
This Reprise edition is in stereo, so you need to have this as well as the mono remastered one with bonus tracks. I always felt Village Green was the masterpiece, but this is a close second. "Waterloo Sunset", "Lazy Old Sun", "David Watts"... some really lasting songs here.

| originally didn't make it to america
this is a under-rated gem. lots of anglophilia. Starts with "david watts" and ends with "waterloo sunset" these are two kinks classics. they exemplify what ray davies was best at- little english vignettes. also check out "lazy old sun" it is a semi-psychedelic masterpiece.

Something Else by the Kinks songs One in a series of remasters of '60s Kinks albums by Castle Music in the U. K., this reissue of Something Else By The Kinks — arguably the band's most accomplished album — boasts excellent sound and eight bonus tracks, several of which you can't get anywhere else. Both the sound and packaging are a big improvement over the domestic CD issue by Reprise, with details on when each track was recorded. This remarkably diverse and ecletic album released in late 1967 marked the beginning of the Kinks' commercial decline in the wake of psychedelia and acid-rock taking over the charts, but artistically it represents the band's peak period (1966-71), the second in a series of concept albums that focused on Ray Davies' wry, singularly British observations on everyday life. It's far removed from "You Really Got Me" and "All Day And All Of The Night," perhaps the Kinks' best known riff-heavy singles, but creatively it ranks with Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band by the Beatles and Beggar's Banquet by the Rolling Stones. Something Else contains the song "Waterloo Sunset," perhaps the loveliest ballad in the history of rock, along with other great songs like "David Watts," "Death Of A Clown" by Dave Davies and as a bonus track the single "Wonderboy." This album is essential to any well-respecting rock collection, and this import version is a much better buy than the Reprise issue.
