| A STYX MASTERPIECE
WOW. I JUST RECEIVED MY 24 KT GOLD CD AND I MUST SAY IT IS A SONIC DREAM. THE GRAND ILLUSION WITH DENNIS SINGING IS THE FIRST SONG AND IT IS VASTLY IMPROVED WITH THE VOCALS AND JOHNS VERY FINE UNEARTHED DRUMMING.THE DIRT HAS BEEN LIFTED OFF JY;S GUITAR ON MISS AMERICA. AND YOU CAN REALLY HEAR THE GUITAR RIFFS.TOMMY SHAW REALLY COMES ALIVE ON ONE OF THE MOST UNDERATED STYX SONGS THE MAN IN THE WILDERNESS. .ON THE GRAND FINALE THE BASS FROM CHUCKIES INSTRUMENT STARTS THOMPING WITH DENNIS SINGING A BEAUTIFUL FINISHING LAST SONG. THIS IS ARENA ROCK AT ITS GOLDEN HIGH. MY ONLY COMPLAINT IS IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO INCLUDE SOME OUTTAKES AND STUDIO VERSIONS OF THIS CROWN JEWEL RECORDING PERIOD,

| THE BEST ILLUSION
WITH TOMMIE IN THE BAND NOW FOR OVER A YEAR. HE BROUGHT THE BAND TOGETHER WITH DENNIS TO PUT OUT THE ARENA ROCK CLASSIC OF ALL TIME. EVERY SONG IS GREAT AND SOUNDS FANTASTIC IN CONCERT.IT IS VERY SAD THAT CONCEPT ALBUMS LIKE THIS ARE NOT MADE TODAY. IT IS A SHAME THAT RADIO IS IN A STATE OF CRAP BEING PLAYED BY ARTISTS THAT ARE GOOD DANCERS

| As good as it gets
Every post a winner! Dennis De Young leaves his syrup on his pancakes and the rest of the band is inspired in both performance and writing. "The Grand Illusion" is the band at its peak in all departments, especially the guitar playing. To lazily label the album as "prog-rock" is to do a great injustice to the band and product. Sure, there are leanings in tracks like "Castle Walls" but the album is a well constructed and recorded Stygian masterpiece. Highly recommended.

| SHM-CD'S
I love good quality sound... I collect, MFSL's, SACD's,HDAD's and DVD Audio... Unfortunately some of the remastered stuff is to digital sounding and some of the SACD's are not really that good... My favourite so far is the HDAD'S but there are not to many made for my taste fo music.. I bought the SHM-cd as a test and i am very happy with it and I have started to replace as many fo my old cd's with this format, except the cd's i have in MFLS AND HDAD format.. I wish all cd's had been transferred to HDAD's but SHM-cd's are a very good second

| A true masterpiece
Styx at their best. A rock n roll masterpiece. Before "babe" this band could rock and write amazing songs. this version of the band is very missed. "Man in the wilderness" may be the greatest styx song never played on the radio. A must buy!
