Obsidian Conspiracy album for sale Product Description
Obsidian Conspiracy album for sale by Nevermore was released Jun 08, 2010 on the Century Media (USA) label. Nevermore are a band built on bucking musical trends and going their own way, and continue to carve their own path for themselves on their seventh album, The Obsidian Conspiracy. Borrowing from thrash, progressive, and power metal, the band still has a feeling that is driving and epic. Their ability to blend genres creates a kind of tempering effect, with the power metal aspects making the prog less cerebral, but not dumb, with songs that provide listeners with equal opportunity to scratch their chins or pump their fists as the mood suits them. ...See Full Description

| Great New CD!! Since its been 5 years since their last release, saying that i was anxious for this album to come out is a bit of an understatement. I love all Nevermore's albums, they have never disappointed me. The Obsidian Conspiracy is another great release. Not quite as fast as some of their other albums, but Jeff Loomis' guitars are still flawless with soaring riffs and solos. Warrell Dane's vocals are more free-spirited on this CD. Jeff really gave him more room this time around to experiment with his vocals. Very good lyrics, and a lot of emotion behind them. More diversity as well, a couple of slower songs on this albym as well. The title Track "The Obsidian Conspiracy" and "She Comes In Colors" are the best songs on the album. Highly Recommend, you wont be disappointed By Stephen M (Denver, CO) This review is for a different format. |
| Seattle rules Living in Seattle, WA in the 90's and knowing some of the band members, I became a fan of Warrel's previous band, Sanctuary and been a fan ever since. Same old solid stuff from him and his co; perfect to listen on dark, rainy days... By mebosunot (Orlando, FL & Budapest, Hungary) This review is for a different format. |
| FIRST time listener and I'm impressed Other than HATING DragonForce with Ultra Beatdown, Nevermore's Obsidian Conspiracy is an album that is not sticking to ONE genre as it goes "across the range" of thrash, power, progressive, groove and neo-classical metal ... which is what PROGRESSIVE metal is REALLY about which is what makes THIS album worthy to listen, esp on tracks "Moonrise (Through Mirrors of Death)" and "Temptation" (The Tea Party cover), in particular. | Nevermore Has Yet To Disappoint I was at first hesistant to purchase this cd because I didn't think it was as great as This Godless Endeavor. Purchasing The Obsidian Conspiracy, I still don't think that it is better than TGE. It is different and I think Nevermore did not want to make another TGE. Again, this is not necessarily a bad thing, as this cd stands on its own as a spectacular outing by the band. Forgetting about all of the comments posted on Blabbermouth and Mtealsucks, I find this release awesome. Some may say that Nevermore releases have to grow on you. I'm here to tell you that I have yet to hear a Nevermore release that had to grow on me upon initial first listening. Stand out tracks: "Termination Proclamation"/"Emptiness Unobstructed"/"The Blue Marble and the New Soul"/"Without Morals"/The Obsidian Conspiracy". Again, for those who think this will not top TGE, you are absolutely right. It will not, however, it is still a five star album because it distances itself from TGE. My only issue is I would've liked to hear this album with either Steve Smyth or Chris Broderick along with Jeff Loomis. Ah well, can't have everything. And Dane's vocals have never sounded better.
