| More than expected!
All the songs I like the most plus some I had never heard before. I was not disappointed.

| The Original 'Genius' Album (almost)
Much has been written that nobody arranged or produced Ray's music except Ray himself. And yet here is an album where every track was arranged by a giant of Big Band music: Quincy Jones, Ernie Wilkins, Johnny Acea, Al Cohn and Ralph Burns. "Side 1", with a great line up of Basie and Ellington sidemen is 5 stars plus. "Side two" is the biggest disappointment of any of Ray's work with a sickly strings orchestra. All the tracks on this side were arranged by Ralph Burns, who produced such great charts for the Woody Herman bands. Woody also recorded for Atlantic around this time - now that would have been a great blues combination.

This is one of the most soulful albums on the face of the earth...Ray Charles goes deep...he inspires you with his blues...he makes you laugh, smile, pat your feet and feel good all over...and for this he definitely must be considered the "dean of the blues"...
