| A Great Career Retrospective
This set is meant for the novice. Biograph, The Bootleg Series, etc... are meant for the die-hard fans.

| Greatest Collection Ever!
Sorry torton I don't usually review cd's but this collection is first rate so I strongly disagree with your review!This collection is a great place for anyone to get a first rate overview of Dyalns music. I actually bought this for an 18 year old who was starting to borrow my Dylan cd's. Makes me happy to see a new generation of Dylan fans out there and to hear Dylan blasting out of his room. I must add that I will be borrowing this from him too as the sound is amazing! Great overview from an artist with a huge catalogue lovingly put together by legacy and Columbia.

| No good reason for this to exist!
All of these songs have been available for years. Not one rare track. Just another re-hash. They even goofed in the booklet and put the wrong version of You Ain't Goin' Nowhere on the collection. It says it is the Basement Tapes version but it is clearly the later inferior version with Happy Traum. The funniest thing is how Columbia copied the artwork idea of the Scorpio bootlegs by putting the discs in little LP style jackets. There is not one original idea about this project. Avoid like the plague. And, by the way, Bob Dylan is my number one favorite artist. My first Dylan concert was December, 1965, in San Jose. Buyer beware! Tom Ordon

| Dylan, Bob - "DYLAN"
Although this is not Bob's most popular album as, apparently, there were tracks on this this which he did not particularly wish to be included, I find it a most interesting album. Very hard to get on cd and if you do have the opportunity - snap it up!!

| Columbia's revenge
In late 1973, Bob Dylan left Columbia Records, signing with Asylum Records for one album, 1974's "Planet Waves". In retaliation, Columbia released this collection of outtakes from his "Self-Portrait" sessions. It's not bad, some songs sound better than others, but it's fun to go back to once in a while. The opener, "Lily of the West", is a compelling Western piece that Dylan performs well, despite an unbalanced sound mix. "Sarah Jane" is a throwaway rocker that Dylan and his backup perform with much energy. "A Fool Such As I" is a spirited take on the old Hank Snow/Elvis Presley hit. "Spanish is the Loving Tongue" features Bob singing in his "Nashville Skyline" croon, soft and sweet. There are no liner notes, and this collection has never come out on CD, so you better get it while you can. Once these cassettes are gone, you won't see it again as Bob himself won't authorize a CD version.
