Kalabooey (Musicskins) CD music This compilation album was released in preparation for Ochre 7, British post-rock label Ochre's second music festival. Held on November 17, 2001, the event presented performances by most of the artists featured on the CD. So it was conceived like an audio program of the event. But after seven years of existence, the label still had yet to release a sampler of its productions and, in that regard, Ochre 7 delivers. The label's identity comes through strong and clear, all acts pledging allegiance to a post-rock/Krautrock credo. That is not to say they resemble one another (at least not too closely), but they sure belong to the same family. The only one not fitting in, so to speak, is Oobe's "Last of Old Albion." Much more psychedelic in a traditional way, the track is also the only one not lifted from an Ochre release. Everything else comes from then-recent or upcoming productions. ...
