Tilda Swinton is Orlando, the melancholy, fiercely independent, and always humanistic poet whose story begins when Queen Elizabeth I--wonderfully played by Quentin Crisp--takes a shine to the beautiful boy. | Ethereal Beauty Tilda Swinton is a wonderfully gifted actor. Orlando illustrates how Tilda presents herself as a blank canvas and then layers herself into each character so convincingly. Quentin Crisp also plays a wonderful part as Queen Elizabeth I. Such a contrast to Orlando's beauty and presence. I saw the tail end of this movie many years ago and it stuck in my mind as being special. I thoroughly enjoyed the visual trip through history and gender perspective. Loved the Elizabethan gardens. Fantastic experience. By Roz (Belgrave, Vic. Australia) |
| The impossible made credible! This is a excellent movie but credit must go to the original writer Virgina Wolf. A good writer makes the impossible seem credible. I like the androgynous character and the travelling through time great themes. By jstelzer (Grafton Australia) |
| Unusual but riveting... I've seen it a dozen times and I'm still amazed at the whole idea. Just outstanding... By a reviewer (New York, USA) This review is for a different format. |
