| New "Best Of The Clancy Brothers" Really Is!
As a long time fan of the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem (saw them live in '63), I have bought a few "Best Of" collections through the years. Always a treat, but not quite my idea of the best. This collection, however, is right on the nose. A mixture of studio and live cuts, a nice cross section of tunes with various types of backing, but all with that classic Clancy style...hearty and heartfelt. I especially like the inclusion of a lesser known but hauntingly melodic number called "I'm A Freeborn Man Of The Traveling People". This compilation captures the Brothers and Makem at their peak...powerful, fun-loving, and funny. Even if you have their albums, you'll still appreciate this generous (16 cuts) and nicely selected collection. If you're wondering who the Clancy's are, grab this album and find out.
