Death Magnetic album for sale Product Description

Death Magnetic album for sale by Metallica was released Sep 28, 2010 on the Universal Distribution label. The world at large got a fly-on-the-wall view of the creation of Metallica's 2003 album, ST. Death Magnetic CD music ANGER, via the documentary SOME KIND OF MONSTER, so we know they consciously tried to keep things contemporary at that time by avoiding fleet-fingered solos and eschewing the sound of the "old" Metallica. If that hoary old term "return to form" ever applied to a rock album, though, it's ANGER's follow-up, DEATH MAGNETIC.   ...See Full Description

Not bad but too little too late
On the merits of the music alone, this album is at least respectable. However most of the riffs are simple and repetative. But where was this 15 years ago? Douche bag Lars said "Metallica was never a metal band," yet they are clearly trying to recapture the old metal sound. I think they finally woke up and realized that they have been POSERS ever since the black album. Unfortunately for me, it's too little, too late.

Great effort - But!!!!!
The boys do seem to be trying to recreate the sound from the "Justice" era. However, the c.d. still lacks that energy and rage that was apparent when they invented the genre. This c.d. can't match the new efforts with bands they grew up with ex. Testament, machinehead, motorhead etc. Still better than previous three releases!

Don't listen to the haters
Upon the first listen I didn't like this album at all. It didn't have that comfortable Puppets or AJFA sound that I grew used to. The constant tempo changes were annoying and the long song lengths drove me nuts. After a few more spins I started to dig one particular song...and then another....and then another....before I knew it I was digging every song on this album, except for Unforgiven 3. Then the tempo changes started to make sense...these are some skilled musicians putting out a very progressive sound. Yeah, so James doesn't growl out the lyrics anymore, so what. There are still 9 solid songs on this album and they rock. I wouldn't rate this album a 5 but it's a definite 4. Give it a few listens before you dismiss it as un-metallica-worthy. Did people compare Revolver to Sgt. Peppers? Probably, but you know what? They're both great albums.
