Station to Station album for sale Product Description

Station to Station album for sale by David Bowie was released Sep 28, 2010 on the Parlophone (UK) label. STATION TO STATION was the soundtrack to Bowie's nightlife. Station to Station CD music This time around he fashioned himself as the king of slick, the "Thin White Duke/Throwing darts in lover's eyes." Station to Station buy CD music This new persona enabled Bowie to show his sensual side and his affection for American soul music--something that would have seemed out of context on previous efforts. The album's smooth vibe is evident in the funky guitar of "Golden Years," and mixed with a dangerous charm and the "side effects of the cocaine" on "Stay." A box set to end all box sets!!!
The following comments regard the Deluxe 5CD/1 DVD/3 LP “Station to Station” box set. Simply put, this extravagant (and expensive) set is the ne plus ultra version of Bowie’s 1976 masterwork. Housed in a stark 12” x 12” box with the album image on the front, what’s inside is anything but stark. The set contains the original analog master of the album on CD; the 1985 CD master; a CD containing all the singles versions; two CDs worth of Bowie’s legendary March 1976 show at New York’s Nassau Coliseum; a DVD containing a 24/96 stereo transfer and a 5.1 surround mix; and three LPs consisting of the original album and the Coliseum shows. The sound quality, regardless of format, is phenomenal. EMI really pulled out all the stops on this one, and it shows in the sonics. There’s a perfect balance of warmth and presence/dynamics that the four digital versions of the album (RCA, Ryko, Ryko AU20, and 1999 Virgin) don’t quite possess by themselves. Aside from the sound quality, the packaging is terrific too. For the Bowie collector, there’s a replica backstage pass and biography, replica ticket, press photos, replica fan club folder, collector cards, photo prints, poster, badges, nice descriptive booklet, and more. The only caveat I have is that the box is easily damaged. Mine came with a couple of minor creases and dings, and at this price it should be flawless—but it wasn’t nearly bad enough to warrant a return. Anyway, just be aware of this when ordering. All in all, this Deluxe box set is THE version to get if you’re as fanatical about the album as I. “Station to Station” is one of the greatest and most influential rock albums of all time, and it’s finally gotten the treatment it so richly deserves. Though I balked, and still balk, at the cost, here’s hoping that EMI gives all of Bowie’s “golden years” efforts similar treatment.

Awesome album, awesome remaster.
This has always been one of my favorite Bowie albums - the title track alone is worth the price of admission. The album strikes me as Bowie's unique take on 70s disco and his nightclub escapades, written while he was in another world on cocaine at the time. The remastering is great, with the songs having much more bottom end and presence than ever before. If you are a casual Bowie fan and want to add to your collection, this is a great choice. Recommended!

The Dark Star
This album served as a presentation of a newly emerging side of Bowie: wasted by rock and cocaine excess, courting demons and the European zeitgeist. Although a relately brief encounter at 6 songs there is something epic nonetheless, as introduced by the eponymous title track. More than any other album this captures Bowie at his most fragile, tortured, contradictory and creative. From the sinister beginning to the pleading loveliness of the cover 'wild is the wind' this is music at its most compelling.

"The european cannon is here"
The return of the thin white duke throwing darts in lovers eyes, what a magical moment, such is the stuff from where dreams are woven, bending sound, dredging the ocean lost in my circle. It will drive you like a demon from station to station.

Bowie: The Artist Supreme
Bowie's talent and range are evident in this must have CD for not just every Bowie fan, but every fan of rock and roll history. The music and lyrics are hauntingly beautiful, a mesmerizing classic masterpiece if ever there was one. If Bowie's not the top single artist of all time, he's certainly in the top 5. Buy it. You'll love it!
