1962-1966 album Product Description
1962-1966 album by Beatles was released Oct 19, 2010 on the Apple label. This superb compilation, often called "the red album," brings together the majority of the Beatles' hits from the early to mid '60s. 1962-1966 music CDs Consequently, it plays like an overview of the some of the most popular and indelible rock songs of all time. 1962-1966 songs From the "yeah, yeah, yeah"'s of "She Loves You" through the amped-up giddiness of "I Want to Hold Your Hand," the minor-key melodicism of "And I Love Her," and on to the chiming power pop of "Eight Days a Week" and the tweaky feedback of "I Feel Fine," these are the songs that turned the entire Western world on its ear. 1962-1966 album The second half of the set--in addition to its phenomenal songs-- is interesting in that it charts the Beatles' move from straightforward pop toward the new chapter of rock the band would help script in the late '60s. After the expansive chords and slinky melodies of "Ticket to Ride," the band becomes alternately darkly introspective ("Yesterday") and looser and more groove-obsessed ("Drive My Car"), while trying on allegorical Dylan-inspired narratives ("Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)"), and happy-go-luck psychedelia ("Yellow Submarine"). 1962-1966 CD music is a 2-disc set with 26 songs. ...See Full Description

| Essential and Influential From John Mayer and Gavin de Graw to Franz Ferdinand to Nine Inch Nails and the very far end of the spectrum of pop and rock, if you wanna know where they got the core of their influences from, listen to both this album and the Blue Album. Every time I hear a "new" hit these days, I have to shake my head in wonder, because no matter how "bold", "innovative" or "confessional" the artist in question is striving to be, the Lennon-McCartney imprint can still be detected all over the writing and the performance. The Rolling Stones still continue to hold on to their mantle as "the greatest rock and roll band in the world" with a kung-fu death grip, but the Fab Four were, are now, and will remain far in the future to be "the greatest rock and roll band in HISTORY." | Broken Drum When I first heard the Beatles album, Abbey Road,I got this gut feeling that the end was near(The Beatles as a group). I felt sick because of all the Gr8 music that, up to then, they had put out like the songs in the Red Album. In a way, the Beatles were like a Broken Drum- you can't beat it. But yet- They were broken. By robertponce (Anaheim, CA USA) This review is for a different format. |
