Power to the People: The Hits album for sale Product Description
Power to the People: The Hits album for sale by John Lennon was released Oct 05, 2010 on the Capitol label. Released as part of Apple/EMI's extensive 2010 John Lennon remasters series, the single-disc Power to the People: The Hits covers familiar territory, but then again, that's the point of this collection. It's not designed to dig deep into John's catalog, it's designed as the latest iteration of the canon, replacing 1997's Lennon Legend, the last big-budget single-disc compilation. Power to the People: The Hits CD music is a 2-disc set with 30 songs. ...See Full Description

Power to the People: The Hits album for sale Given his unparalleled talent for innovative recording, mixing, and soundscaping, producer Sir George Martin has always been rightly referred to as "the fifth Beatle." Some 35 years after the Beatles disbanded, Martin was still shaping the group's music, as demonstrated by the 2006 release LOVE. The album (created to coincide with a Cirque du Soleil performance based on Beatles songs) amounts to a musical fantasia centered on the Beatles' output, with famous work from both early and late in the band's career collaged with great care and artistry.
Martin's relationship to the band gives him a unique perspective (not to mention access to a vast catalogue of multi-track tapes), which results in a shape-shifting overview that encompasses demo recordings, instrumental passages, and snippets from some of the best-loved Beatles tunes. Beatles fanatics will be in seventh heaven playing "name that reference" on this sonic carpet ride, but LOVE also provides something of an "overture" to the Beatles' oeuvre. The SPECIAL EDITION comes with a bonus audio-only DVD featuring the album in various stereo mixes.
Love is the title of the highly successful Cirque du Soleil show featuring the music of the Beatles, currently wowing audiences in Las Vegas. The music for the show, reworked by Sir George Martin and his son Giles, is a continuous soundscape of well-known songs by the Beatles augmented by additional instrumentation and vocals taken from their vast bank of original multi-track tapes. The result is an amazing set reinforcing the timeless quality of the group's recordings destined to open up a new legion of fans to the Beatles experience. The CD includes newly mixed and mastered music plus a 28 page booklet. The audio DVD contains 82 minutes of music both in 5.1 surround sound and stereo.

Frank Sinatra Nothing But the Best: The Frank Sinatra Collection CD (2008) Top Seller
Power to the People: The Hits CD music "The Chairman of the Board" died in May of 1998, yet his music sounds as vital and relevant today as ever. Released on the 10th anniversary of his death--in coordination with a slew of DVD releases commemorating the singer's acting career as well as an official U.S. Postal Service stamp--NOTHING BUT THE BEST provides an excellent look at Sinatra's tenure at the Reprise label. Among the album's 22 vintage cuts are classics such as "The Way You Look Tonight," "Luck Be a Lady," "Strangers in the Night," and "My Way." The disc also contains a bonus track in the previously unreleased recording of "Body and Soul." Diehard Sinatra fans will likely own most of this material, yet as a greatest hits set (albeit covering the Reprise years only) NOTHING BUT THE BEST lives up to its title.

Bee Gees Odessa CDs (1969)
Power to the People: The Hits album for sale ODESSA is widely regarded as the Bee Gees' finest pre-SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER moment, an elaborate (the original LP had a red velveteen cover), baroque-pop masterpiece on the order of the Zombies' ODESSEY AND ORACLE or even the Beatles' SGT. PEPPER. The ambitious arrangements and elegant-but accessible songcraft of tunes like "Melody Fair," "Lamplight," and "First of May" certainly bears out this estimation. Accordingly, ODESSA has been given a deluxe treatment here, with two full discs of bonus material appended to the original album. While there are a couple of never-before-heard songs amid the bonus tracks, most of discs two and three are occupied by mono mixes and alternate versions of the album's classic tunes, offering fresh glimpses of a cult classic.
ODESSA stands as one of the great British pop albums of the '60s, right up alongside such tours de force as SGT. PEPPER, ODYSSEY AND ORACLE, and S.F. SORROW. In fact, while it's full of elegant baroque pop gems, ODESSA's range even extends beyond its aforementioned peers, delving over the course of its double-length into everything from Gospel to country. Songs like "Melody Fair" employ all the pop smarts the Gibbs earned early in their career and apply them to a much more sophisticated scope of song structure. The seven minute-plus title song is a centerpiece here, an epic account of a ship gone astray, full of changes in texture, tempo and dynamics, veering dangerously close to artsong, but (as is part of the Bee Gees' magic) always staying on the right side of infectiousness.
