Mayer remains somewhat of a disciple of Slowhand, but he shows an unusual interest in the big AOR stylings of Journeyman, along with Stevie Ray Vaughan's In Step, creating a coolly clean blend of synths and Strats, one that's as much about texture as it is about song. The Quad Threat Strikes Again
Robert Cray is known as the triple threat of the blues for his equally strong writing, singing and playing. Well, Sir John-Boy does him one better because he's equally adept in all of those and is so good looking- and the looks matter. Mayer is so cocky, you've gotta love him. If you think he's gotten soft or fat, listen again. At first I thought this offering was a bit too polished and commercial...but I listened more and again. Mayer is Clapton, Hendrix & Robert Johnson with a touch of Prince (Sexy M@)! This record proves Mayer can do anything. He has nothing to fear except being too good. I almost feel afraid for him. Some chick is going to eat him up, eventually.

"Heartache Bliss"
Take in Consideration this guy has won 7 Grammys and this album "Battle Studies" Debuted at #1 on the Charts. Enough Said! He is still making pleasable timeless Music.

Unfortunately Disappointed
Huge Mayer fan, but have to say wasn't too overly excited with this one. Normally, love everything on new CD's from start to finish,,,but, not this time though. What did I like?? "Half of My Heart",,,"Who Says",,,"Crossroads",,,and the beginning of "Heartbreak Warfare". Maybe just have to listen to it more. Anyway, Mr. Mayer is still one of the best!!
