Five stars for the music
Musical Version Of The War Of The Worlds CD music A bit pricey and the 60 page booklet is in Japanese. The fold-out album cover and inserts are impressive but not very user friendly (try pulling out one of the 3 discs without spilling half of the inserts!). I suppose since there are 3 discs and the other DSD remastered Santana albums are over $20 a piece (without such an elaborate cover/sleeve concept and booklet) then the price seems more justified. It's great music from the band during that precious Caravanserai/Welcome period. Plus it's another album featuring the late great Doug Rauch on bass - although his playing is a bit more conservative here than on the studio albums, in part due to the song selections (earlier simpler tunes that Dave Brown had recorded are a-plenty)and partly due to the fact that he is supporting the band more than showing off. Tough call on the price though... could be rare someday but I would have settled for a regular American remaster (don't know if one is coming).
