| Super! I owned the cassette back in the 80's. Then bought the cd but way late but cool anyway. Always loved "No Quarter" which i think was the highlight off the original release. This deluxe edition now adds more which makes it a way more complete listen of the TSRTS album. By foolintherain (rainy, USA) This review is for a different format. |
| Worth the wait! The remastered version is amazing! The tracks that are added from the original Madison Square Garden shows are a real treat because some are not to be found anywhere else like "Celebration Day". Its amazing how Jimmy Page pulled this song off live! My only complaint is the way they butchered the "No Quarter" solo. On the original TSRTS recording that solo told a story. There was a beginning, a middle and an end which was dynamic and just plain rocked. The new version on the remastered disc is obviously chopped up and lacks the power of the original version. I would recommend this CD to anyone. Just enjoy "The Song Remains the Same/The Rain Song" live and remember this is live with no overdubs and you realize why Jimmy Page was constantly voted Best Guitarist in music publication back in the day. | Amazing Plays one of their best concerts on a cd. Worth every cent. Jimmy Page rules. By ChrisMoulton6 (Sarasota, Fl, USA) This review is for a different format. |
| garden tapes guy, get a life.... so there's some editing on the live album...who the hell cares, name a me a live album that is'nt edited..the main thing is the remastered version with the extra tracks is unbelievable, zeppelin in all there glory, druga and all...if u want a live cd to rip for being edited try, judas priest unleashed in the east and thin lizzys live and dangerous...those 2 albums are like studio albums with crowd noise, just terrible...and lets face it the best live metal cd ever is without a doubt ufo's strangers in the night...so garden guy..take a bong hit, relax and enjoy zeppelin like the rest of us. | learning a lot i have always known that the original album contained cuts and edits, and was at times considerably different from the film, which also contained edits. some are noticable while others are seamless and difficult, if not impossible to detect. but at the suggestion of a previous reviewer, i visited the garden tapes website, and became aware of quite a number of edits and splices that i had never known about before. it's really quite facinating, and i would suggest that any fan check it out. but in the end it really doesn't matter, only the finished product matters, and the finished product is wonderful. both the original, and this remaster are just wonderful.
