Heart's comeback
After being dropped by Epic, Heart was given another chance. A complete makeover was made to their sound and their looks, no doubt initiated by Capital. This was a winning formula: glossy, slick, and commercial, almost guaranteeing radio airplay. The band traded artistic credibility for mainstream success.

My, What Big Hair You Have!
In the early 80's, when Private Audition & Passionworks failed to duplicate the success of Heart's previous smashes, Ann & Nancy Wilson had a tough decision to make - do we go with the flow or do we get left behind? Luckily for us they persevered. The fact that this album sold 5 million copies says more about the record buying public than it does about the Wilsons. Heart's brand of rock'n'roll was pretty much dead in the water during this time. There was punk & new wave & Michael Jackson & glossy synth pop (AOR). MTV was god when it came to the music business. Now we got to SEE what previously had only been HEARD. So, if the music was not up to Heart's typically high standard - well, for what it was, it was pretty good. (If nothing else, there were those amazing videos..These Dreams, What About Love..Never. Special thanks to Nancy Wilson's pretty obvious!) Having been a Heart fan from day one (1976), I have to admit some puzzlement when I first got this album. I recognized Howard, Mark & Denny on the front cover BUT WHO WERE THOSE WOMEN?! OK, that's definitely Ann wailing on If Looks Could Kill, What About Love (Wow, Ann & Nancy & Grace Slick - too bad it couldn't have happened 10 years earlier), & Never. Then came the real eye opener: These Dreams. What a perfect marriage of singer and song. BUT WAIT - that's Nancy, not Ann. This tune has #1 written all over it (am so glad I was proven right). Then, there was The Wolf. Really good rocker. So, this obviously was a new version of Heart that was going to take some time getting used to. I agree with the reviewer who said the band (i.e. Ann & Nancy) traded artistic credibility for commercial success; sold out for those less forgiving. Anything that kept those glorious voices in the spotlight should be welcomed by true music fans.

What a wonderful Cd!!!!!, as it was expected, this little treasure of music is simply irresistible. All the songs are well performed and the lyrics better than ever. Just listening to the powerful What about love? or just the soft These Dreams. I think this is the best work Heart has ever done.

One of The Best Albums of All Time
This album has ultra-excellent production, song writing and musicianship of the highest level. You may know the hits (the power ballads) from this album but the ones you didn't here are major "hits" too. They all rock. No matter what kind of music you like you can't go wrong owning this album.
