| Super-fun album! I found this to be a really fun and entertaining album to listen to! I liked it as good as/if not better than "Piper At The Gates Of Dawn"! I think "Saucerful of Secrets" is an outstanding instrumental - sounds like funeral music towards the latter part - I liked it wayyyy better than both Pow. Toc and Interstellar Overdrive from Piper... "Corporal Clegg" is hilarious with the gazoo in it - has a great tune/melody as well! "Set The Controls" is kinda slow and a little weird but I like it! The other songs are just as fun so I definitely recommend this one! By Allen (Arkansas, USA) This review is for a different format. |
| FOLLOW ON If you liked Piper @ the gates of dawn, get this one. Syd Barret (original guitarist) never returned to Earth after some acid trips and David took his place. This one is one of my favorites. By johncaudy (Wilmette IL) This review is for a different format. |
| A Saucerful of Trippiness After years of listening to The Dark Side of The Moon and The Wall, this, along with Piper at The Gates of Dawn, Meddle, and Obscured By Clouds, is a breath of fresh air and a compelling stage of Pink Floyd's career. Not as childlike and concise as Piper, and not as polished and airy as Meddle or Dark Side, the songs vary from short, concise pop tunes to long, drawn out psychedelic freakouts. Syd Barret appears on the closing track(Jugband Blues), and the true transitional peice is "Corporal Clegg," a driving rock and roll number that becomes a childlike chorus of kazoos with a circus-like musical backdrop. . | the hidden gem in the pink floyd's career. this was a major transition phase between the pink floyd of the past and hints of the future to come. Syd only had a minor part as gilmour began to take the helm. This is one of their best works and an underrated album. By a reviewer (Seatle) This review is for a different format. |
| Best Floyd album ever This is one of their first album without Syd. And it's is really an amazing album. In my opinion it is better then The Wall or The Dark side of the moon. (And those are some pretty good albums too... ) Please buy! By a reviewer (Denver) This review is for a different format. |
