| jewel in Bonnie's crown....
As a long time fan from the early 70's it was very interesting to watch what happened to NICK OF TIME once in was released. The reaction from all the critics and radio stations (who for the most part ignored Bonnie's music,with the exception of the now Triple A outlets) was the biggest surprise. The public was finally given over a Bonnie Raitt who had finally settled down enough from her wild ways to sober up and work with people that could bring out her many highlights. Boy did it work, (video, radio and the press) all came together in an era that was finally welcoming to the singer/songwriter(after the wild 80's) and add to it an exceptional slide guitarist & vocalist with a blues slant and the best of what Bonnie did came through big time. Nick of Time was filled with so much of what Bonnie fans had come to expect, just done up the way it should have been presented years before. Great song writers shine throughout this, at times sad, confident and soulfully fiesty masterpiece. Bonnie even adds some great licks herself with the memorable bookends of "Nick of Time" and "The road is my middle name". Time did finally catch up to Bonnie Raitt and her talents. Shes gone on to make many terrific recordings (lets face it shes a national treasure herself) shes just not into the hollywood glamor trip that is forced on the public. Blessed with her fathers drive to go on and on and give fans what they pay for, she most likely will have her dad's longevity on stage and keep giving us something to talk about, for many more years. They are still playing many of these cuts on the radio 16 years after this release. Finally on a DVD format and pumped up with better sound and more features!
