| Important! This is Davis's 3rd record in his historic return to performing in the early 80's. Even though, 'Come Get It' lacks melody and direction, and I can hardly stand it, this album is still a 10, a collector's item and a must own! Now, of course, the addition of John Scofield, and Marcus Miller's great understanding are key ingredients, but the intricate blues compositions and Miles's high level of leadership dazzle. 'It Gets Better' is one of my favorite songs of all time, and I use this title as a slogan, and think of this great track every time. 'Speak' cooks and introduces a melody line Davis would often use as an intro or outro for years. 'Star People' is a 18 minute, 24 bar blues, that I just love. Man, Miles shows how to play the long solo. I often wished he would've made a whole 50-70 minute album of just this song: a blues tutorial. 'U'N'I', is an urban funker, a street dance tune; catchy and smart. 'Star On Cicely' is similar to 'Speak' but has a more compact rock sensibility. Believe it or not, when I think of Miles, which is often, this is one of the first albums I think of and I've heard, and, at one time or another, owned, most of them. By St.Davey (Windham, Me.)
