| good old classic True classic. Season of the Witch alone is why CD is worth having. I give it 4 stars only because they never issued a digital remaster. By a reviewer (Las Vegas, NV, USA) This review is for a different format. |
| Bloomfield is where it's at This has got to be some of Michael Bloomfields best guitar work along with the 2 Paul Butterfield albums. In retrospect I can hear what a huge influence he was on many that followed and his contemporaries as well (check out PBB 1st album, 1965, and you'll hear the early Jerry Garcia sound. check out east-west (1966 PBB)and visit the blueprint for what later became the improvised "acid rock" sound. This guy had it all- killer attack, perfect vibrato, and great melodic inventiveness.AS far as "remastered" goes, I've heard plenty where the previous issue was better, some of these tapes are 25-35 years old now, there are alot of discs that were done right to start with when the tapes were younger and sounded better, trust your own ears instead of automatically assuming the newer (older really) version is better. Sometimes it is and sometimes It's worse. Nuff said, get this disc and turn on to one of the best gutarists you'll ever hear.Review by Chris Henrici. | Super Sessions, super session! Hope there is more from these four because they are simply the best. But I fear they no longer record...too bad if that is so. Loved it. By a reviewer (Livonia, Michigan) This review is for a different format. |
