| Deadheads will love Reckoning Hey Now, This version of Reckoning is the best yet, has all the acoustic gems you have heard from "For the Faithful" and earlier versions of Reckoning, plus BONUS CD with many other takes and new songs from the 1980 Radio City Acoustic shows. It's HDCD format, so one of my boomboxes didn't play it properly, but I can play it on my Nakamichi CD deck and PC CD drive, plus I ripped and loaded my Rio MP3 player with it. This is my #1 favorite CD for "playing along" with the boys. Enjoy the Jerry goodness, Papa Joe Minneapolis By joseph.m.neuville (Minneapolis MN) This review is for a different format. |

| Hear The Grateful Dead In Top Form This is the ultimate acoustic recording of the Grateful Dead. Jerry, Bob, Phil, Brent, Billy & Mickey are unstoppable on this brilliant recording. Every song brought out the best in these guys. Even my Dad, who hated rock music, thought this was a nice album. Highlights? Perhaps the most perfect "Bird Song" ever, a soulful "To Lay Me Down", a fun cover of "The Race Is On" as well as the humorous "Monkey And The Engineer", and a hauntingly pretty "China Doll". The bonus material isn't merely filler, either. By Robert (Cambridge, NY, USA) This review is for a different format. |
| Reckoning The Grateful Dead never did enough acoustic work. This album is an exellent taste of the acoustic sets that the Dead did in the early '80s. With exellent versions of songs normally played in electric sets, "It Must Have Been The Roses", "Cassidy", "Bird Song", "To Lay Me Down", and "Dire Wolf", as well as many wonderfull traditional songs, such as "Dark Hollow", "On The Road Again", "Jack-A-Roe", and "Deep Elem Blues" this album is truly a gem, although the companion album "Dead Set" leaves more to be desired. If this album leaves you looking for more acoustic Dead, try "Bear's Choice" which documents some of the acoustic songs of the early '70s.
