Another perfectly good Genesis album...
Some of us are old enough to remember the doom and gloom expectation of Phil Collins taking over for Peter Gabriel in 1976...and then two epic albums later...all is forgiven, more important, all is forgotten. Phil Collins stepped in and Genesis became a super group. Yes, Phil helped push the band's sound more towards the masses but the core sound of Genesis remained. But nobody ever gives the band credit for evolving while never compromising their distinct sound. So why would anyone discount the potential of the band when faced with having to replace another icon and continue to duplicate the great music the band will forever be remembered for. Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford have been the constants since the band assembled. This CD features Rey Wilson on vocals and in classic Genesis style, the lead vocals define the music. "Calling All Stations" is just short of a masterpiece but on balance, a very fine CD and does not take a back seat to any previous Genesis recording. In all fairness, this CD has a very distinct sound that is a trademark of the band. Songs like; Congo, Alien Afternoon, Not About Us, Calling All Stations, Uncertain Weather and If That's What You Need are great songs and echo the classic Genesis sound. If you are looking for another Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, Trick of the Tail or Wind and Wuthering you will be disappointed...if you are looking for a fresh sound that still resonates Genesis....Calling All Stations is excellent. Cheers

This is not genesis
You can not compare this to old genesis ,such as trick of the tail, selling england by the pound, wuthering, fox trot or then there were three, just to name a few. In fact it was as if they sold out after lamb lies down. I like Phil Collins but he turned genesis into a pop band not staying with what they were great at ,and that was one of the greatest progresive rock bands of all time.

Their best effort sice Wind & Wuthering
This CD beats every album made by the Collins-fronted trio. I've checked it again and still sounds fresh and inventive. It's a shame that many Genesis fans don't care about it. The title track, 'Alien Afternoon' & 'The Dividing Line' are terrific. Give a chance to this great remastered version!...
