| Heaven and Hell MKII This is the 2nd lp from the Dio fronted(then)Black Sabbath. Bill Ward had flown the coop during the Heaven and Hell tour, Vinny Appice, brother of Carmine(Vanilla Fudge, Cactus, Blue Murder)fills in nicely. Playing very much in the style of Bill Ward. Geezer's role in lyric writing is diminished but still plays the hell out of his bass and Tony keeps coming up with some memorable riffs. Of course Mr. Dio writes and sings some very memorable lyrics. I remember when this came out, when Fulton, MO still had a metal/rock fm station they would play this back to back with Ozzy's Diary of a Madman when that was released. Quite womething to hear on the radio back then. All in all, Mob Rules is an excellent album, it was then it still is now! Rhino has done a beautiful job of remastering it! | Takes getting used to...but one of the best Sabbath albums I'll admit, when I first heard Mob Rules, I was somewhat perplexed. I had just gotten through listening to all the original Sabbath albums for weeks on end, and I didn't know what to think of it. Truth be told, the music on Mob Rules is moving at the speed of light compared to any Sabbath album with Ozzy. I was used to the slow pace of the songs on Paranoid, Master of Reality, Vol. 4, etc., and this album completely kicked my butt with its speed and energy. Even after listening to the first album with Dio, Heaven & Hell, Mob Rules is still steeped in intensity. This album definitely deserves the title of "Sabbath album with the most energy." | Necessary I've always been more of an Ozzy fan when it comes to Black Sabbath, but Dio does great work on this album. Just listen to "Sign of the Southern Cross" at high volume. If that's not enough, put on the title track and break stuff. By ewolszcz (Harrisburg, PA, USA) This review is for a different format. |
| Minor league version of Black Sabbath BORING Thank god the oringinal and BEST Sabbath lineup is back together By Ozzy (New England) This review is for a different format. |
| dark dio remastered. album number two is the mob rules. after heaven and hell, dio and company returned to the rock. turn up the night, voodoo and the title cut rule!!!!!!!. the sign of the southern cross is a better sabbath epic than the stupid johnny blade which sounds like humanoids from the deep. that movie while cheesy still scared the ish out of me!!!!!!. get this album.
