| Southern fried funk-rock at its best First of all I just want to say that this album is my introduction to Little Feat, the only song I ever heard was 'Willin', which intrigued me enough to get an interest in this band. I was blown away from the first listen. This is all killer and no filler southern fried funk-rock and roll. Kind of like Lynyrd Skynyrd meets Sly and The Family Stone. These songs are tighter than a nuns you know what. I highly recommend this album. By mbordy69 (United States) This review is for a different format. |
| The Feats Didn't Fail Them This Time As my headline title implies, "Feats Don't Fail Me Now" finally broke the band into the Top 40, and is an excellent effort. Billy Payne's "Oh Atlanta" is the hit single that should have been, Paul Barrere was progressing finely as a songwriter, contributing the excellent funky "Skin It Back" as well as co-writing the title track, and Lowell George supplied two classics with "Rock and Roll Doctor" and "Spanish Moon". I, however, do believe that the group should have come up with maybe three more songs as the closing 10-minute medley of "Cold Cold Cold/Tripe Face Boogie" struck me as being filler, despite some fine keyboard/conga interplay during the crescendo. Finally, Feat had some well-deserved commercial success, although it also suggested George's soon-to-be diminishing influence as the band's work would soon slide into a pleasant jazz-rock feel. | career pinnacle The Feat deserved induction to the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame, on the strength of this album alone, sadly an action still remiss to this day. While IMHO the earlier albums were around 8/10, this is at least a 9, Maybe a 10. While many site 'Oh Atlanta' as a favorite, how can you not admire the brilliance that is 'The Fan', 'Spanish Moon', or the Medley that ends the album. Where most early albums had usually one song that diminished the overall feel, (Dixie Chicken had 'Fool Yourself', or to a lesser extent ' Juliette'), This album has no weaker tracks or filler. Easily the best grooves of a career for a band that could groove like no other. If you must have just one 'Feat' album, let it be this one By michaelmcgee (Tasmania; Australia) This review is for a different format. |
| little feat at their best this is little feat at their best. i really like the songs "oh atlanta", "skin it back", "spanish moon", and "feets dont fail me know." Their rock and roll and funk combination is great. All great musicians also. By gillmor (Donahue, IA, USA) This review is for a different format. |
