| Memories of the past Still wonderful music from the past, not like music you hear from today, but the rock from the past. By angelwings (show low, az) This review is for a different format. |
| The Frost Rules! I own this on LP which by the way it has never been opened. Still has the cellophane on it. Bought it from a cut out bin years ago. Nobody seemed to think it was that great. Best band to come rockin' out of Michigan as far as I'm concerned. Way better than Seger, Nugent, SRC, MC5, Savage Grace, The Stooges. Did I miss anybody here? I bought it finally on CD and it is a bit disappointing only for the fact it was not digitally remastered so the sound quality is a bit vague. But other than that it was great to hear it once again. "Mystery Man" smokes on this CD. I used to go see them all the time play over in Grand Haven, MI. at the Grand Haven Roller Rink & Ballroom. They would come and play there about once a month. And we used to complain of the $2.50 charge at the door to get in. Now you'd give your right arm to only pay $2.50 to get in to see a top major act. Times have changed for sure. Dick Wagner went on to better opportunities and disbanded The Frost to play guitar for Alice Cooper and I heard later on for Lou Reed. Hope this CD gets digitally remastered somewhere down the road but in the meantime if you're a hard core Michigan rock band fan you owe it to yourself to buy a copy. I rest my case. | dick wagner can play guitar The Frost: Frost Music...released in 1967 on the Vanguard label. This album features a young Dick Wagner on guitar who would later play with Alice Cooper and Lou Reed to name afew. The album is a mixture of heavy melodic rockers and some blistering play by dick wagner......a must for any fan of the late 60's Detroit music scene. recommended listening ..Also check out his band Ursa Major which released a decent hard rocking album on RCA in 1971.
