The Time Machine 40th Anniversary From H.G. Wells' landmark novel comes this beloved adventure about the inventor of a time-travel device that whisks him through a war-ravaged 20th century and into a far-off era where humans are enslaved by evil subterranean mutants. Rod Taylor, Yvette Mimieux and Alan Young star in this Best Special Effects Oscar winner. Year: 1960. Starring: Rod Taylor, Yvette Mimieux, Alan Young.
Setting the temporal starting point of the classic H.G. Wells novel in the year 1960 (rather than 1900), this engrossing adaptation follows the Time Traveler as he passes through World Wars I, II, and III and finally stops in the year 802,701. There he finds an apathetic, placid people called the Eloi and falls in love with one of their number, the beauteous blonde Weena. To his horror, however, he learns that the Eloi's apathy is generated by a maniacal, cannibalistic underworld--and that the only way to help them is to incite a revolution. ...See Full Description

| Time Machine ticks The original Time Machine is a fantastic movie. The Time Machine itself is a marvelous piece of inventive design by Wah Chang and the special effects were great. No digital magic there but real creative thinking. I loved the film By a reviewer (San Francisco, CA) This review is for a different format. |
| The First and Best- The Time Machine 1960 Director George Pal did a fantastic job with keeping the movie close to the book written by H.G.Wells. Rod Taylor plays George, an inventor, who after many years of seclusion in his lab, invents a time machine. After giving his four friends a demonstration of a miniture time machine, only one believes . The special effects are well done for 1960. Traveling thousands of years into the future, George meets the Eloi, a race of humans living above ground. After saving a woman from drowning , his eyes are opened up to the real horror of the future. There was a 2002 version of the Time Machine and despite its super computer generated special effects, it still can not compare to the origional. If you are even mildly interested in Science Fiction, don't pass this one up. Starring Rod Taylor, Alan Young and Yvette Mimeux. By Bill (Greensboro , N.C. | Very well done I've always liked this movie. The 5.1 soundtrack was a lot better than I expected. The picture was also very good for an older movie. By a reviewer (Charlotte, MI, USA) This review is for a different format. |
