End of an Era !
"Out Of The Cellar" was 6 years past and the 80s were fading fast. Even upon the first play, this album had the feel of a farewell disk (of sorts). That said, the band offers a truly excellent effort here and shows how far they had come since "You Think You're Tough." This and the preceding 4 albums, along with that first EP, are a genuinely fine collection of metal.

The End Of The Line
Notice my title. As indeed this was the end for Ratt. After this record they never recaptured anything resembling the sound and influence they once had. This was a flop as it was in sales. I like many of the songs on here but it suffers from overproduction, an overly commercial sound, and a distinctly not Ratt vibe. This is even worse in these respects than Reach For The Sky which was a departure in itself. The commercialism will make me not want to listen more than I'd say once at a time to this as it gets very repetitive, unlike their first say 4 releases. Surely Stephen and the band could not be proud of this record, as it is so far from their original sound and production values it could pass for a total pop sellout group of today with just a heavier sound. Go get Ratt EP through Dancing Undercover to hear the REAL Ratt.

Ratt and ROLL forever!!!!!!!
Hey guys , this is one of the old school bands , that will always kick ass. This album Ratt and Rolls just like all of the others. I recently bought all their albums on cd. A must have for all who love Ratt. Ratt and Roll.

Descent into mediocrity
This album, the last of the classic Ratt lineup, happens to be their worst, for several reasons. Desmond Child took a lot of the raw excitement out of the earlier excitement and replaced with big pop melodies and hooks (moreso than Ratt had before). Indeed, I can imagine Tina Turner singing Givin' Yourself Away. Also, the boys in Ratt have pretty much run out of ideas and are tired. However, this CD has some good points: the production, while very glossy, is excellent, Stephen Pearcy actually sounds good (which he hasn't since Out Of The Cellar), and some of the songs, like Shame, Shame, Shame and Lovin' You's A Dirty Job rank among the band's finest tune. If you want a decent hair metal CD or are a Ratt fan, I'd recommend this album despite its flaws.
