| Timeless and Ageless My favorite tune on "Kind Of Blue"'is SOWHAT,Blue anD Green grew on me. THis is simply a Conclave of great egos melting into 1. Call and response and all of the African an European influences are on display. Every time I played the ablum that s now a Cd the music becomes something else. | Greatest Album of All-Time (Jazz or otherwise) I know, it's pretty high praise, but if you've heard it, it's hard to argue against it. Simply put, this album's beautiful. This album is great for beginners to Jazz and the most avid followers of Jazz. Wonderful for background music, mood music or to study it and take in every note. No matter who you are or what music you're into, this album is a MUST!! By a reviewer (Sunland, CA, USA) This review is for a different format. |
| This album's for eternity This review is for the 50th aniv edition. I already have this album and bought this edition for the extra tracks on the second disc, original studio takes, original liner notes & the artwork. The second disc n the extra tracks makes it feel like a complete Kind Of Blue session as i feel its music never stops growing. This is a collectors item and needs no review of this all time greatest jazz album ever. By tiwarysandeep (India) This review is for a different format. |
| Life Changing Experience Before hearing "Kind Of Blue" in 1986 I thought Armstrong, Getz, Joplin, some Parker, Steely Dan, and Jean Luc Ponty was all the Jazz I needed. "So What" and "All Blues" were then the new standard for ALL music. So expressive and powerful while so restrained and minimal. And it swings. Wow. This album led me to "In A Silent Way", "Bitches Brew", "Live Evil",and "On the Corner." Then to Coltrane's "Love Supreme", "Blue Train", and "Transitions." Even to Coleman's "Free Jazz", way wild. My point being that finding "KOB" re-animated for me what I was sure was a dead, decaying musical form. Wrong. By eddiez61 (Collingswood, NJ) This review is for a different format. |
| Don't bother replacing your CD with this DualDisc Kind of Blue is a 5-star record. If you do not have it, you should get it. But if you already have it on CD, a remastered version, there is no reason to replace it with this DualDisc. Interviews are slick and add little to appreciating the music. The photo gallery is 6 photos, one for each song on the CD. This is not DVD-audio, only DVD-video sound, so you won't really gain any improvement in sound. DVD-audio might be more interesting, but Sony does not currently support DVD-audio format. By Kari (Washington DC) This review is for a different format. |
