As of the fall of 2010, we've raised nearly $650,000 for cancer research during the holidays the last seven years by soliciting donations in exchange for our CD, as well as organizing benefit concerts.

Led by singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer Mark Wilkins, The New Burn have created a record that combines crafted melodies and arrangements together with thought provoking lyrics to demonstrate their belief that the song is king. Beauty Of The City In The Last Hour Of The Night CD music Jerry Clower is one of those comedians you either get or you hate. Generally, there's no explaining why you dislike a particular comedian, you just know that he or she grates on your nerves. Clower, however, pushes those buttons more than most, possibly because his country cornball act is often either too obvious or too backwoods for city dwellers. So be it; it doesn't matter to me anymore, ever since I've given up trying to understand comedy. I've come to terms that not everyone will share my opinion that Bob Odenkirk and David Cross are blindingly brilliant, perhaps the best comedians to ever walk the face of this earth, and that's fine with me. I've made some personal peace, enough to recognize that Clower Power, with cuts like "Ole Brumey Wasn't Runnin' a Coon" and "The Ole Timey Ice Box," is a good Clower album, one that will undoubtedly make some people chuckle heartily. In fact, some could even argue that it captures him in his early-'70s prime. This disc, which contains 29 numbers, leads off with a curious novelty, "The Square Dance Rock." The other tunes are divided between earnest covers ("See See Rider Blues" and "Pennies from Heaven"), robust stompers ("Mama Don't Want [What Poppa Don't Want]"), and teen laments ("Pray for Me Mother"). There's also an intriguing tribute piece, "I Miss You Jimmy (Tribute to James Dean)," prompting speculation as to whether the song was Dillard's idea or a company ploy to exploit Dean's tragic demise in 1956. Dillard makes most of these songs entertaining, and sometimes turns in a triumph. ~ Ron Wynn
