| It's awesome Amon amarth 100%. By hello (Springfield) This review is for a different format. |
| Another Crushing Effort Although this album took a few more spins to fully digest, the album ranks quite highly in the Amon Amarth catalog. I find this one a bit more aggressive than Twilight with many more guitar solos/ aggresssvie riffs. The opener War of Gods sets the roaring tone as fire roars outta my speakers with Destroyer of the Universe. For Victory or Death & A Beast am I just have that AA catchiness to them, an overall great mix of old & new Amon Amarth sums up the album. Oh yes, the bonus DVD makes this a must buy. | Classic Amon Amarth! Amon Amarth is a true death metal success story. This is a band that has persevered by releasing a series of consistently solid albums of Viking-influenced melodic death metal. Surtur Rising is one of their best, chock full of epic Viking tales and more accessible in-your-face statements of intent. True, there is no great shift from one album to the next, but you cannot listen to Amon Amarth albums and not come away screaming one or more of their choruses. Amon Amarth are death metal's AC/DC. And that's not a bad thing. By brian.ferguson (Bethesda, MD, USA) This review is for a different format. |
| AWESOME!! Yea the only review came from a D-BAG whom just does not get this Viking laced POWER HOUSE of metal and violence! It fits in with everything else Amon Amarth has done... which is to say PERFECT!! By Hollowedout (Downey, CA) This review is for a different format. |
