Recorded live in Europe, 1978's 3D FAMILY features David Murray in a transitional period of his career. The opening barrage of "In Memory of Jomo Kenyatta," with its rhythmic seizures and searing saxophone salvos, harks back to Murray's work when he first arrived in New York.
