Still Alive and Well album for sale Product Description
Still Alive and Well album for sale by Johnny Winter was released May 10, 2011 on the Friday Music label. You might mistake this for a live record, but this is actually a 1973 studio release by the Texas blues guitar master. Winter's first release after a brief retirement/drying-out period, STILL ALIVE AND WELL, from the title on down, has the feeling of a major comeback, although Winter really hadn't been gone for very long. Looking hale and hearty on the cover--or as hale and hearty as a rail-thin albino can look, anyway--Winter sounds equally fit on the songs themselves. Still Alive and Well CD music contains a single disc with 10 songs. ...See Full Description

| Back in Rare Form After kicking drugs and booze Johnny Winter's comback LP Still Alive and Well is probably my favorite other than Tobacco Road. This Texas R&Roller laid the pathway for other great guitarist like Stevie Ray and Eddie Van Halen. Straight from the gut Johnny plays some of his best guitar licks and this LP is a must for any Rocker's Collection. | 2 Bonus Tracks Make This CD Even Hotter! 2 Bonus Tracks Make This CD Even Hotter! Johnny Winter's '73 comeback classic the Rockin'-Blues smash Still Alive And Well has finally made it onto CD. This Lp put Winter back into the public eye after a semi-retreat from the biz and he delivered the goods and lived up to the title in more than one way. This CD is a must in any Winter fans collection especially for the 2 additional bonus cuts "Lucille" & "From A Buick Six" that hail from the Lp's sessions. | HIS BEST RECORDING AFTER TAKING A YEAR OFF AFTER THE BREAKUP OF JOHNNY WINTER AND AS WELL AS HIS OWN ANXIETY/BREAKDOWN , JOHNNY REINVENTED HIMSELF WITH A ROCK AND ROLL TRIO RATHER THAN A BLUES TRIO. UNLIKE THE JOHNNY WINTER AND ALBUM , THIS EARLY '73 ALBUM EXPLODES WITH INTENSITY AND EXCITEMENT, PROBABLY AS A RESULT OF WINTER'S OBVIOUS HARD WORK AND HIS PRODIGIOUSLY TALENTED, SYMPATHETIC SIDEMEN. THIS IS , NEXT TO CREAM'S "DISRAELI GEARS" , THE FINEST ROCK ALBUM EVER PRODUCED. GET THIS GEM AND TREASURE IT. By BONY MORONIE (FROM A BUICK SIX) This review is for a different format. |
