Ramp album for sale Product Description
Ramp album for sale by Giant Sand was released Jun 17, 2011 on the Fire Fidelity label. RAMP was the second of three stellar albums released by Giant Sand at the beginning of the '90s. Ramp CD music It was preceded by SWERVE and followed by CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE. Ramp buy CD music Excellent material and sympathetic, energetic playing unify the trio. Ramp songs Leader Howe Gelb's songs can be anthemic ("Romance of Falling"), or can quietly celebrate small and delicate moments ("Wonder"). Guest Victoria Williams' harmony vocals on the former make for a bracing mix. Band friend Pappy Allen sings "Welcome to My World," giving an impassioned commitment to every phrase that is mirrored in the band's supple support. Surprises are to be found within almost every song, as well as in the construction of the album as a whole, which follows its own sort of hallucinogenic logic. This album and its two bookends make perfect starting points. ...See Full Description

| WARM STORM After falling for the twisted music of Howe Gelb with Giant Sand's recent studio album Chore Of Enchantment, "Ramp" has re-affirmed my views about the quality of Giant Sand's music. First track "Warm Storm" is astounding which is a shame because the rest of the album, although very good, can never quite live up to it. This is definitely the album to try if you want to dabble in their earlier as it is probably more accessible and melodious than the likes of "Swerve" and "Centre Of The Universe" Ramp - An unheralded classic. By a reviewer (Edinburgh, Scotland) This review is for a different format. |
