Bright Size Life album for sale Product Description
Bright Size Life album for sale by Pat Metheny was released Jul 26, 2011 on the Universal Japan label. BRIGHT SIZE LIFE, his first solo album, is an anomaly in the Pat Metheny discography. Bright Size Life CD music Rather than inaugurating a new era in his music, it celebrates the end of another. Of the eight superb arrangements that make up BRIGHT SIZE LIFE, only the gentle ballad "Unity Village" (an overdubbed duet between electric 6- and 12-string guitars) made it to the Pat Metheny Group repetoire. | Stunning A truly inspiring album, this has to be one of the best guitar/bass/drums trio recordings ever made. The opening phrase on the title track alone make this worth having. For any fan of Metheny,Pastorius or good music, this is a real "must have". By Pete (Okayama, Japan) This review is for a different format. |
| a must own for any music lover The music on this album transcends style or classification because it is simply gorgeous fluid aural ecstasy. Any one who can be moved by music whether a jazz, rock or classical music fan can appreciate this because it melds elements from all these styles. This is Pat, Jaco & Bob early in their recording careers; lean hungry and completely free of the constraints of fame or musical trends. I've read comments by Pat Metheny that this is a poor representation of the music this trio made together but if that is true i would love to hear what he considers greater than this. Hard to believe. By krisdroog (Orlando, FL, USA) This review is for a different format. |
| Positively Sublime There is a zen-like state sometimes achieved between musicians wherein the music appears to be playing them rather than the other way around—when every note, phrase, every subtle shift in tone and rhythm is a flowing crystalline part of a seamless sonic journey. In my opinion, this is the true magic of music: when musicians become one with their craft and pull us in to share in the euphoric ecstasy. Pat Metheny's first effort is such a piece of music. The interplay between Metheny, Pastorius, and Moses is both highly technical and deeply moving—flawless execution of complex material performed with earnest enthusiasm and genuine emotion. This is one of those albums which will entrance you, making you vividly aware of each riff, groove, and chord change. The next thing you know, it's over and you feel like you've been hypnotized—because you were. It's that amazing. Thirty years later, this music still proves its timelessness and releveance. I'm fond of everything that Pat and Jaco have done separately or collaboratively (check out Joni Mitchell's "Shadows and Light" for instance), but this album has a very special place in my heart. If you enjoy fantastic jazz performed by gifted, soulful musicians, you can't not have this album in your collection. By Patrick (Boston, MA, USA) This review is for a different format. |
| A must-have for Metheny and all jazz fans ! Metheny's first and many say best ever. Personally, I enjoy so many of Pat's records that it's hard to pick a favourite but Bright Size Life is right up there ! If you like contemporary jazz and new ideas and jazz guitar, get this CD. Highly recommended. By André (Orléans, Canada) This review is for a different format. |
