S7even Large album Product Description
S7even Large album by Euge Groove was released May 17, 2011 on the Shanachie label. The first couple of albums by saxophonist Euge Groove (aka Steven Eugene Grove) made Billboard's Top Contemporary Jazz Albums chart. S7even Large songs His sixth album, Sunday Morning, was listed in the magazine's Jazz Albums chart, and that shift in category doesn't only reflect a blurring in the distinction between "contemporary" and traditional jazz. S7even Large album Groove hasn't become a mainstream jazz artist exactly, but he has focused more on live takes and live musicians in the studio over synthesized tracks to play over. He begins "The Funky Bunch," an original composition on his seventh album, S7even Large, with a count-in, and that emphasizes the impression that he and fellow musicians including keyboardist Tracy Carter, guitarists Ross Bolton, and John Jubu Smith, drummers Trevor Lawrence, Jr., and Dan Needham, bassist Cornelius Mims, and brass player Lee Thornburg are actually in a room together playing on the track. That may not always be the case, but the playing does have the feel of real musicians. ...See Full Description

| the last album was better.....but thats not saying much. gotta admit, after B2G i haven't been digging much of euge's work as i once was. at first glance theres almost no songs that stand out on here, maybe 2 or 3 at best, i will say the intro song is fairly decent tho. just sorta bland and normal stuff going on here for the most part, its definitely that euge sound, but hits like "moving on" and "mr groove", "summers night dream" ect are seriously lacking on here. best i can give is 3/5, an thats mainly cuz im a pretty big fan, but it seems as a whole euge just isn't cutting for me anymore. | More than enough This cd is one of the best Jazz albums that i have heard for the first time and feel in love with, really smooth, love his work. By nazy1 (Cincinnati, OH USA) |
