Soul Mine: The Greatest Hits & More 1960-1978 album for sale Product Description
Soul Mine: The Greatest Hits & More 1960-1978 album for sale by Lee Dorsey was released May 17, 2011 on the Charly label. Charly's 1993 compilation Soul Mine has a great cover shot of Lee Dorsey pointing a pistol into the camera, no liner notes, and all the usual suspects: "Ya Ya," "Do-Re-Mi," "Great Googa Mooga," "Ride Your Pony," "Get out of My Life Woman," "Confusion," "Working in the Coal Mine," "Holy Cow," "My Old Car," and "Everything I Do Is Gonna Be Funky (From Now On)." It also has the relatively latter-day single "Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley," plus a couple of good rarities: "Love Lots of Lovin'," "Go Go Girl," "Give It Up," "Night People," "Soul Mine," "Freedom for the Stallion." The lesser-known songs are all good -- during his heyday, Dorsey was never bad -- but it's not necessarily enough to make this worth seeking out for anyone but completists. ...See Full Description

Chamillionaire Chamillitary CD (2005)
Soul Mine: The Greatest Hits & More 1960-1978 CD music Another in Chamillionaire's seemingly endless string of mixtapes, Chamilitary is also a fine loss-leader compilation of the artists signed to the rapper/producer's label of the same name. After a statement of purpose intro track that's also an excellent example of Chamillionaire's own mic skills, the album is mostly a showcase for Rasaq and 50/50 (who gets five solo tracks of his own). Both of them are solid rappers, each with a more than adequate presence and flow, but the irony of the album is that even without trying to, Chamillionaire's mixture of skills, production savvy, and charisma tends to overshadow his protégés. His solo tracks "Get Outta Here" and "Roll wit Me" are the album's highest points, the latter built on a thin, needly arrangement that enhances the starkness of the lyrics. It might be a label sampler, but Chamilitary mostly plays up the label head's talents instead of that of his signings. ~ Stewart Mason

Donnas Get Skintight CD (1999)
Soul Mine: The Greatest Hits & More 1960-1978 songs As yet another group of latter-day rockin' rebounds, the Donnas afront the musical standards community with GET SKINTIGHT, a high-energy offering that's fueled by Ramones- and Runaways-caliber attitude. Donna F., Donna A., Donna C., and Donna R (who have all recently graduated from the proverbial "Rock & Roll High School") successfully continue the siren-sassy, drop-rock-and-party tradition they set with their first two LPs, THE DONNAS (Superteem, 1998) and AMERICAN TEENAGE ROCK 'N' ROLL MACHINE (Lookout!, 1998).
Equal parts Shonen Knife, the Muffs, and L7, the Donnas blend winsome vocal harmonies into guitar-fueled barnburners with titles like "Party Action," "I Didn't Like You Anyway," and "Get Outta My Room." There's even a cover of the Motley Crue anthem "Too Fast For Love." GET SKINTIGHT is about as basic as post-'70s garage rock idolatry comes, and full of indelible classics that will never go out of style.
1999 & third album from the all-female quartet often referred to as the 'female Ramones'. 14 tracks, including 'Hot Boxin'', 'Too Fast For Love' and 'Skintight'.

Killer Wall of Sound CD (1984)
Soul Mine: The Greatest Hits & More 1960-1978 CD music Phil Spector surely had other things in mind than the rampant cacophony unleashed by Belgian metal maniacs, Killer, when he formulated his trademark Wall of Sound recording technique -- but, hey, the shoe still fits! 1982's aptly monikered Wall of Sound album was the mustachioed trio's second in as many years, and it actually managed to trump its predecessor in terms of focused energy and aggression (welcoming powerful new drummer Double Bear into the fold certainly helped), though not necessarily distinctive songs. Fans and critics still disagree, though, and both records are close enough, in essence, to make for a good starting point for first time listeners, but suffice to say that Wall of Sound boasted of a more unified creative direction, but also fewer surprises. Nevertheless, energetic album highlights such as "Battlescars," "Blinded," and even the dubiously named "Maybe Our Interests Are the Same" offered top-notch head-banging in the classic, early-'80s mold; while the frenzied title track and closer "Kleptomaniac" book-ended the LP with evident, but still welcome, Motörhead-isms that are difficult to resist. A pair of slower and somewhat overlong numbers ("No Future" and the particularly forgettable "Bodies and Bones") only serve to bog down the album's mid-section, but the similarly formulated, surprisingly bluesy "Hellbreaker" rescues it in the nick of time, making Wall of Sound a very entertaining listen almost from start to finish. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
Personnel: Paul "Shorty" Van Camp (vocals, guitar); Ivo "Spooky" Van Doren (vocals); Robert "Double Bear" Cogen (drums).
