Fly from Here album for sale Product Description

Fly from Here album for sale by Yes was released Jun 21, 2011 on the Avalon label. A decade after their last studio release, Yes has issued Fly from Here, and it's not only a keeper, but as good as any record to come from the group since 1974. Consisting here of Chris Squire (bass, vocals), Steve Howe (guitars, vocals), Alan White (drums), Geoff Downes (keyboards), and Benoit David (lead vocals), and with Trevor Horn producing, an obvious connection can be made between this album and 1980's Drama.   ...See Full Description

Brilliant Masterpiece!
I have been a progressive rock fan and a Yes fan since the mid-1970s and I own most of the Yes albums that have been released. As I read another reviewer say recently this is the first Yes album since Big Generator where I haven't pressed the CD player skip button at least once. Despite the line-up changes with the most notable being the absence of long time lead singer Jon Anderson the group under the guidance of former Yes Drama album producer Trevor Horn has created a brilliant masterpiece. With each listen it is quickly becoming one of my favorites.

A Triumphant Return
Wow.From Roger Dean's fantastic, majestic artwork, classic Yes and Drama era Yes combine for a clean, beautiful, fresh sounding record.A lot of energy on this.Welcome Benoit David into the fold with open arms. For Yes purists,if you had to find a replacement for Jon,the band couldn't have made a better choice. As a true Yes fan there is no possible way you can't like the song "We Can Fly".Pure beauty. The melodies, harmonies are all there. On "Into The Storm" you can even hear playing reminiscent of "Don't Kill The Whale"/"On The Silent Wings Of Freedom" from Squire.Trevor Horn's excellent production lifts this record to another level.A welcome addition to any Yes fans collection. Not a bad track on here.I'd give it 10 stars if i could.A must buy.

Weak
I am a huge Yes fan since I was a child and I can't believe that after 10 years this is the best album they can do. The songs are weak and uninspired, no great arrangements, no insane solos, no polyrhythms or creative riffs in odd time signatures, it seems that when they have to go prog, they play a couple of bars with triplets and that's all. A shadow of what Yes used to be. The only good thing is the production by Trevor Horn.

Disappointing
I've been a YES fan since the 1970's and I'm very disappointed in this release. Unfortunately, it lacks the depth of song writing, both lyrically and musically, that I have come to expect from the group.

Mixed Feelings, But It's Not Bad
The latest incarnation of Yes carries on without lead singer Jon Anderson. To me, Jon is not replacable, but this new Yes line-up has at least come up with a decent album. For me, the low point is the 6 part "Fly From Here" suite, which recycles a leftover "Drama" era track, and extends it over 20 minutes. Highlights for me are the rocking "Into The Storm", a spiritually lifting song called "Hour Of Need", and a beautiful song written by Chris Squire for his wife Scotland, "The Man You Always Wanted Me To Be". Pales when compared to the bands' older classic albums, but "Fly From Here" is at least worthy of the Yes moniker.
