In Person: Friday and Saturday Nights at the Blackhawk, Complete album for sale Product Description

In Person: Friday and Saturday Nights at the Blackhawk, Complete album for sale by Miles Davis was released Jan 17, 2012 on the Impex label. "Walkin'" is taken at the kind of jaunty tempo that distinguished the Wynton Kelly-Paul Chambers-Jimmy Cobb rhythm axis. In Person: Friday and Saturday Nights at the Blackhawk, Complete CD music Paul Chambers' buoyant, effortless beat, his sure sense of harmony and swing, and his resounding brand of melodic bass (dig his little bowed break at the conclusion of "Walkin'") are the glue which hold these performances together. On "Walkin'" he and Jimmy Cobb lock up the groove as if swinging were the same as breathing, allowing Kelly to engage the trumpeter in a continual dialogue, feinting counterpoint and feeding him his favorite chords, then dropping away to allow Miles to stroll for a taste. In Person: Friday and Saturday Nights at the Blackhawk, Complete CD music contains a single disc.   ...See Full Description

Brings back the memory
In Person: Friday and Saturday Nights at the Blackhawk, Complete album for sale Hearing this album is almost as great as being there. I was fortunate enough to catch the Saturday show at Guido's "sewer", dark & funky with his color wheel extravaganza lighting, a perfect mood setter, keeping the audience focused on the players, as if we needed extra coaxing. ***** X 2.

Miles at his prime.
In Person: Friday and Saturday Nights at the Blackhawk, Complete CD music The great appeal of this double CD is in the great display of musicianship by one of the great jazz trumpeters of his era. The music is a joy to listen to, and the solos by Wynton Kelly on piano are truly memorable. In tracks such as No More Blues, Miles' incomparable sound and harmonies are what historic recordings are made of. No serious discophile should be without this one.

The Complete Set At Last
In Person: Friday and Saturday Nights at the Blackhawk, Complete buy CD music For many years this marvelous set of music was available only on poorly pressed LPs. Now the whole set, including other music is available. this band was distinguished by Hank Mobley a great tenorman with a different c sound than other Miles Davis tenors. This changed the nature of the band, a better bablance, perhaps, though lacking the fire that Coltrane or Rollins could inject into a piece. The tradeoff was more focus on the music itself. A very special session.

Miles live at his best
In Person: Friday and Saturday Nights at the Blackhawk, Complete songs These 2 CDs are amongst the best live jazz records I ever listened: Bass and drums are at perfect sintony. The piano is as sober as can be. And Miles plays great songs in his own intimistic way. Buy it and leave it on the player for weeks!!
