Kind of Magic album for sale Product Description

Kind of Magic album for sale by Queen was released Sep 13, 2011 on the Island (Label) label. Some songs on this album appear in different form in the film HIGHLANDER. A KIND OF MAGIC primarily functioned as a musical backdrop for the movie HIGHLANDER, but unlike Queen's other motion picture soundtrack (1980's FLASH GORDON), the album doesn't contain a single instrumental--they're all fully realized songs. Although it's not quite on par with their time-honored offerings from the '70s and didn't chart well in the States, A KIND OF MAGIC still contains more than a few classic Queen tracks. Kind of Magic CD music is a 2-disc set with 16 songs.   ...See Full Description

Excellent Album
This is a great Queen album. Some songs were used on the Highlander movie soundtrack. Great tracks throughout "Princes of the Universe", "One Year of Love", "Who Wants to Live Forever?", "A Kind of Magic" are all great tracks.

BORING
This CD is Queen’s all time worst offering. It contains two of the worst songs they ever wrote “Pain is so close to pleasure” and “One year of Love” The entire CD sounds flat, sterile and uninspired.

Personal Favorite
One of my all time favorite Queen albums. This one along with The Miracle and Innuendo show Queen still at the top of their game.

Wow.
My sister bought this CD half a year ago and showed me it. It's the only music I've listened to since then.

Kind of Magic CD music Both artistically and stylistically HARVEST MOON is the successor to HARVEST, Neil Young's landmark acoustic album from 1971, which featured the No. 1 single, "Heart Of Gold." The song "Harvest Moon" was nominated for a 1994 Grammy Award as "Record Of The Year." The song "Harvest Moon" was nominated for a 1994 Grammy Award as "Song Of The Year." Neil Young's sequel to 1972's HARVEST found him reuniting with the Stray Gators and inviting along a few other famous friends. Unlike Crazy Horse's sonic bludgeoning, the Gators' light playing featured ethereal-sounding pedal steel and harmonies that caressed like a gentle lover. This was the perfect compliment for Young's songwriting, which was fueled by romantic notions of courtship and deep thought. Young and Nicolette Larson harmonized and became the lovers of "You and Me," whereas Jack Nitzsche's string arrangements made for a nice contrast in "Such a Woman," a bold-faced declaration of love. Other insights into the normally cranky iconoclast's sentimental side include the delicate touch of the title track, which leaves an image of slow-dancing in a dark corner. Fast approaching 50, Neil Young also used HARVEST MOON to reflect back on his life, particularly in the biographical "One of These Days," and "From Hank to Hendrix," a twangy sequel to "My My, Hey Hey (Out of The Blue)." Young also continued his commitment to the environment by including both a protest against man's destruction of nature ("War of Man") and a live tribute to the forest and jungles recorded at a Portland, Oregon performance that included sounds of the Brazilian rainforest ("Natural Beauty.") Certified platinum 1992 album arranged by Jack Nitzsche and featuring background singers Linda Ronstadt and James Taylor. 10 tracks. Reprise. Nominated for a 1994 Grammy Award as "Record Of The Year." Recorded at Redwood Digital, Woodside, California. Kind of Magic album for sale There has always been a strong country element to Neil Young's music and OLD WAYS is perhaps the ultimate manifestation of Young's love of that style. Songs like "Get Back To The Country" (a stomping track on which fiddles and a Jew's harp are the lead instruments) and "California Sunset" are indeed pure country. Other songs--including "The Wayward Kind," "Misfits" and "Old Ways"--boast poignant melodies and straightforward performances that would not be out of place on classic Young albums like HARVEST and COMES A TIME. Labeled a "country album" when it was released in 1985, OLD WAYS is a lot less country than Garth Brooks or Dwight Yoakam, though with guests spots from Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson, it's not your typical Neil Young album either. OLD WAYS is an enthusiastic, well-played exploration of country music by a rock artist who is never afraid to try something new. Kind of Magic buy CD music All tracks have been digitally mastered using HDCD technology. BROKEN ARROW was nominated for a 1997 Grammy Award for Best Rock Album. BROKEN ARROW is the third straight album on which Neil Young has splattered loud electric-guitar notes all over his folk-rock melancholy. You'd have to go back to Young's amazing mid-1970s records to find a similar streak, and you'd have to go back just as far to find Young in a groove this consistent, this good. In his '90s incarnation, Young seems to be upping the ante each go-round. It's as if he's completely enveloped in his own noise, and taking great pleasure in seeing just how much he can get away with. The first three songs on BROKEN ARROW are nearly a half-hour long between them, and they reach that length through long, scratchy, meandering solos that evoke both jazz and punk-rock (think Sonic Youth) in their simultaneous bid to be transcendent and noisy. In "Loose Change," Young solos for a miraculous six-and-a-half minutes over a single chord. By the end of the third song, Young appears emotionally spent, desperate to break the mood. The second half of BROKEN ARROW consists of comparatively light and compact electric folk-rock songs, a cosmic acoustic number and an odd little live recording of bluesman Jimmy Reed's "Baby What You Want Me To Do." It's a potpourri that belies the strength of songwriting and performance that this wayward rocker has carried into middle age. "I'm still living the dream we had/For me it's not over," he sings over a haze of guitar distortion in "Big Time." At age 50, in fact, he sounds as if he's just starting. Recorded at Plywood Analog, Redwood City, California and live at Old Princeton Landing, Princeton-By-The-Sea, California. Neil Young & Crazy Horse: Neil Young (vocals, acoustic & electric guitars, harmonica, piano); Poncho Sampedro (vocals, electric guitar); Billy Talbot (vocals, bass, tambourine); Ralph Molina (vocals, drums, percussion). Kind of Magic songs Not a posthumous collection of odds and ends but an album actually recorded in the final months of Freddie Mercury's struggle with AIDS, MADE IN HEAVEN is full-force Queen. Their dynamic theatrics charge the album, as Mercury's unrivaled voice and the band's grand production aesthetic resound clearer than ever before. MADE IN HEAVEN captures all the explosiveness that made Queen one of the most magical big-rock bands of the '70s and '80s. Mercury's powerful voice soars to heights that mere pop singers simply aren't able to grasp. On "It's A Beautiful Day," and particularly on the song's refrain, his regal vocal prowess reminds the listener that this is a man who could sing opera but still rock harder than most heavy metal screamers. The rest of the band is equally brutal in its precision: Brian May's sophisticated guitar work, and the eloquent, sympathetic rhythm section of bassist John Deacon and drummer Roger Taylor make this collection of rock music a moving affair. Throughout their career, Queen beckoned the acceptance of a broader range of pop-rock. Mercury's vocals soared beyond the rock idiom, and May's dignified guitar arrangements may never be equaled. Freddie Mercury will be forever missed, but the unrestrained beauty of MADE IN HEAVEN captures him in a loving portrait. Liam was the youngest and last surviving member of the Irish icons, The Clancy Brothers. "The Wheels of Life" documents the work Liam had been doing in recent years and includes a compelling version of Shane McGowan's beautiful autobiographical tune "The Broad Majestic Shannon" and a powerful rendering of Paul Brady's classic "Follow On." There are also touching duets with two of Ireland 's finest female vocalists, folk singer Mary Black and Rock singer songwriter Gemma Hayes. The Album ends with three bonus live tracks featuring guest appearances from Donovan and Tom Paxton. Engineers: David Richards, Justin Shirley-Smith, Joshua J. Macrae. Personnel: Brian May (vocals, guitar, keyboards); Freddie Mercury (vocals, piano, keyboards); Roger Taylor (vocals, keyboards, drums, percussion); John Deacon (keyboards, bass guitar). Liner Note Authors: Gregg Brooks; Gary Taylor . Directors: Hannes Rossacher; Rudi Dolezal. Photographers: Neal Preston; Douglas Puddifoot. Arranger: Queen. Queen: Freddie Mercury (vocals, piano, keyboards); Brian May (guitar, keyboards, vocals); John Deacon (bass, keyboards); Roger Taylor (drums, percussion, keyboards, vocals). Additional personnel: Rebecca Leigh-White, Gary Martin, Catherine Porter, Miriam Stockley (background vocals).
