| Missing parts It is a good movie. When I saw it for the first time in 1973 it included tunes which were not released on DVD. Why remove the history? There are three important tunes which shaped the way of salsa to come. The movie needs to be complete todays young salsero needs to experience what we did thirty years ago. | Only video quality Medium video qualitiy. It's justified by the age. Good doucment. By jimenk (Bogota, Colombia) This review is for a different format. |
| Our Latin Thing Review Having lived this era in Salsa music and having attended many of their concerts, all I have to say is that fond memories of my youth are relived. This is must have for past, present, and future generations. I rate this a 5 since it's the highest rating I could give it. By bella7taina (Blue Island, IL) This review is for a different format. |
| The Salsa movement Fania All-Stars: Our Latin Thing/Nuestra Cosa review Wow. I saw this video and it bought me back to my younger days in New York City when Salsa was becoming the unstoppable force, that it eventually became, back in the early 70's. I doubt there will be such a collection of great Salsa musicians in one place at the same time ever again. Salsa dancing is taught all over the world nowadays but if you really want to see the artists in concert that can be credited with pioneering the Salsa sound then you will want to see this video. As was mentioned on an earlier post the video quality reflects the times, the music however is great. I could do without the cock fights and the santerismo but hey you can't have it all. I fast forwarded those short segments. Here you will see the greats, Larry Harlow, Johnny Pacheco, Cheo Feliciano, Santos Colon, Willie Colon, Ismael Miranda, Hector Lavoe to name but a few. If you lived during the era you will want to see the video. If you are younger and maybe your parents lived during the era you may want to see the video to see why they celebrate the way they do.
