Starless and Bible Black songs After the transitional ISLANDS, LARK'S TONGUES began the third Crimson phase that continued with STARLESS and ended with RED. Starless and Bible Black album The quartet of David Cross, John Wetton, Robert Fripp and Bill Bruford (augmented on LARK'S TONGUES by madman percussionist Jamie Muir) is regarded as the most innovative of Crimson's many lineups, offering hard-edged improvisations on an unprecedented level. Starless and Bible Black CD music With founding member/lyricist Pete Sinfield departed, Robert Palmer-James stepped in with a more cutting, concise lyrical approach that matched the group's uncompromising instrumental precision. Starless and Bible Black music CDs STARLESS takes the furious improvisational style inaugurated by it's predecessor and takes it to new heights. Starless and Bible Black songs Tunes like "We'll Let You Know" and "Fracture," while based around typically devilish Fripp guitar figures and complicated time signatures, lean heavily on the spontaneity of the band's no-holds-barred interaction for their fireworks. Starless and Bible Black album The drumless "Trio" is 100 percent improvisation and inspiration. | RE: "What Gives?" This is not Crimsons best, I'll admit that, but a great album non the less. GOod suggestions with Yes, Floyd and Tull, but if you think this album is "boring" you havent listened to it. So much is going on in the music its extraordinary. Give it another listen man. | What gives? I think the reviewer below put it best -this album is "headphone music". That is, music that is obsessed more with creating weird moody atmosphere than actual melodies. There are a couple of interesting riffs and changes here but otherwise the album is quite BORING to listen to unless, I guess, you're under the influence.. but I bet even britney spears sounds good under the influence. anyways, if you want progrock that showcases brilliant songwriting, check out Yes, Jethro Tull and Pink Floyd.. | unique This is my favorite album. And King Crimson's most underrated. Perfect headphone music. Takes you to a musical place you've never been. Inpsired percussion by Bill Bruford. On the title track, Robert Fripp sustains a dissonant tension throughout, he somehow with Wetton, Cross, and Bruford make it all fit together. "Fracture" is musical gymnastics at its best. It's easy to relate to the band's restrained exclamations at seminal moments. This is an album to take if stranded on a dessert island!
