Marsha Ambrosius Late Nights & Early Mornings CD (2011)
New Life buy CD music Just a few months after her Floetry partner, Natalie Stewart, released Floetic Soul, Marsha Ambrosius issued her own solo album. In a way, Late Nights & Early Mornings picks up where 2005's Flo'Ology, left off, as much of it is in the vein of that album's slow, steamed-up songs like "Lay Down" and "Imagination." Ambrosius makes the point early, opening the album with a pair of stellar modern quiet storm numbers in the bare "With You" (written with Alicia Keys) and the 1984-1985 Prince-channeling title song (produced and co-written by Rich Harrison). The song that follows, "Hope She Cheats on You (With a Basketball Player)," temporarily shifts the tone with some cleverly spiteful language over Ambrosius' sparkling production. Two nice surprises come with a deadly, faithful cover of Portishead's "Sour Times" and a bright version ...

Trey Songz Passion, Pain & Pleasure CD (2010) Top Seller
New Life album for sale Through the release of his third album, 2009's Ready, Trey Songz appeared to be an up-and-comer poised for top-tier R&B stardom. A fast succession of three Top Ten R&B singles later, that promise was fulfilled. Rather than squeeze every drop from Ready and take a break or open a clothing boutique, Trey chose to build on his momentum. The week Passion, Pain & Pleasure was released, he was on the R&B chart in six forms, whether as a lead or featured artist, and two of those slots were occupied by his own new singles. The shamelessly mindless "Bottoms Up," a thematic sequel to ...

Trey Songz Inevitable CD (2011)
New Life CD music During the fourth quarter of 2011, Trey Songz remained one of the most successful single artists of his era. From 2009 through the release of this five-track stopgap EP, he racked up seven solo Top Ten R&B singles and appeared as a guest vocalist on a couple others. Inevitable certainly resembles a brief collection of glorified studio scraps -- something released to capitalize on holiday sales -- to maintain the product flow. None of it is poor, but it's all B-grade material for Songz, who boasts and flirts over mostly slow, low-key productions from primary associate Troy Taylor. ~ Andy Kellman
Trey Songz has undeniably become one of music's hottest R&B artists thanks to an infinite streak of hit singles - including "Can't Help But Wait," "Successful (Drake & Trey Songz)," "I Invented Sex," "Neighbors Know My Name," and the platinum-certified "Say Aah."
Trey prefaces his fifth studio album, Chapter V, with this 5-song EP entitled Inevitable, and plans to use the knowledge and experience he's gained over the past years to catapult him to yet another level of superstardom.

Keyshia Cole Calling All Hearts CD (2010)

Bonus Tracks; Deluxe Edition |
New Life songs Whether attributed to the downward trend in album sales or its very title -- one that likely made instant skeptics of those who didn't want Keyshia Cole's sound to change -- the merely-gold-selling status of A Different Me must have greatly impacted the makeup of Calling All Hearts. There are no upbeat pop-oriented songs, and stylistic diversions are not part of the program, either. It is something of a refinement of Cole's first two albums, and yet it involves a revolving door of songwriters and producers. While Ron Fair is as present as ever, Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, Timbaland, Irv Gotti, Chink Santana, the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, and Chuck Harmony represent a mere fraction of the collaborators. Slow and midtempo material dominates, and so do lyrics illustrating turbulent relationships, though "Take Me Away" -- a highlight -- beams. It drags in spots, due in part to an absence of a "Let It Go"-type track to break up all the introspection and pain, but Cole delivers for those who want to hear a moody, emotional outpouring. ~ Andy Kellman
