a Great Classic !
If you are a connoisseur of jazz guitar or just good guitar playing and musicianship, this is a must have. In the line of George Benson and John Tropea, this one really rocks. I brought mine almost thirty years ago as LP. This is a timeless classic, Superstar is a very moving number. Oh yes the very beautiful richly orchestrated Ballerina. Throughout this recording you have great music tight rhythm section, horns and vocals some of the best east coast musicians

A Must Have CD!!!
This is the only album by the great New York session ace David Spinozza that I know of (which is too bad). Spinozza is a tremendously soulful guitarist who's album creds include Gil Scott-Heron to Carly Simon to Dr John to Les McCann and everything in between. You may remember his solos on "I Be In The Right Place" by Dr John and "You're So Vain" by Carly Simon. "Spinozza*" is a fantastic disc which sort of pay tribute to the man's extreme versatility. There are the wonderful and sensitive arrangements of "Superstar" (The Carpenters) and "The Ballerina" which evoke the special magic of Broadway "pit" bands in which Spinozza spent major time. "Airborne" and "On The Way To The Liquor Store" are nods to "Breezin'" by George Benson and, to a lesser degree, Wes montgomery. "Edge Of The Sword" is toal jazz/rock. "High Button Shoes" is straight New York funk. "Country Bumpkin'" is a funkdafied Chet Atkins joint. But the best tune on the record IMHO is "Doesn't She Know By Now." It is hard to resist the comparison to Earl Klugh (especially considering when this LP came out), but Spinozza really shines on this one. The gorgeous arrangement and beautiful guitar sound are worth buying this CD alone. You might think this review was written by a publicist (I am not), but this is a really fine and solid CD (I have it on vinyl which has been out of print for nearly 2 decades!) which stands the test of time with great compositions and fantastic performances by every musician. Spinozza puts together an allstar cast of talent on this CD including Michael Brecker, David Sanborn, Luther Vandross, Steve Jordan, Steve Gadd, Anthony Jackson and many more. Certainly if you like "Breezin'" (Benson), "Mr Magic" (Grover Washington, Jr), or anything by Grant Green or Wes Montgomery, you must have this CD in your collection.

Spinozza rocks
I heard this album in the late 70s and really dug it. I bought the CD, hoping it would still sound as good as I had remembered. I was pleased to hear that it was. Of course, there is the one vocal song, which it could do without, but the rest is filled with great guitar melodies in the jazz/fusion genre. If you like early DiMeola, you'll like Spinozza.
