Nice Compilation of All The Byrds Columbia Albums !
This isn't an essential compilation in that the CDs in this set have not been remastered. However, they did include the deluxe version of Sweetheart Of The Rodeo 2CD set.

Some Enchanted Evening CD (1978) 4.4 stars Top Seller

Complete Columbia Albums Collection CD music Recorded live at Barton Coliseum, Little Rock, Arkansas on April 9, 1978; Municipal Auditorium, Columbus, Georgia on April 11, 1978; Fox Theatre, Atlanta, Georgia on April 13, 1978; New Castle City Hall, New Castle, England on June 1, 1978. Blue Oyster Cult's second live album (which was also the group's second platinum effort) was recorded during the 250-date tour for SPECTRES. Always one of the better '70s live draws, Blue Oyster Cult used SOME ENCHANTED EVENING to showcase some of the group's heartiest epics alongside some of its more well-known selections. Among the stellar songs included are the southern rock-flavored "R.U. Ready 2 Rock" and the mystical "Astronomy," a song that's wrapped in blankets of Allen Lanier's swirling synths. A crunching version of the hit "(Don't Fear) the Reaper" is only surpassed by the thunderous "Godzilla," a monster epic that is this band's "Smoke on the Water." An interesting pair of covers, "Kick Out the Jams" and "We Gotta Get Out of This Place," found the members of Blue Oyster Cult not only tipping their hats to the rebellious side of the British Invasion, but paying homage to the spirit of anarchy represented by the MC5. This Legacy edition expands the original audio release to the 73 minute double-album length it was once planned to be and also includes a second disc, Some Other Enchanted Evening, a semi-bootleg DVD of concert footage shot on the same 1978 tour. Producers: Murray Krugman, Blue Oyster Cult, Sandy Pearlman. Blue Oyster Cult: Eric Bloom (vocals, guitar); Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser (guitar); Allen Lanier (keyboards); Joseph Bouchard (bass); Albert Bouchard (drums). Additional personnel: Tony Cedrone, Rickey Reyer (percussion).

Complete Columbia Albums Collection album for sale While 1990's THE BYRDS box set was an excellent representation of the group's illustrious and highly influential career, the 2006 four-CD set, THERE IS A SEASON, is a wonderful replacement. Working chronologically from pre-Byrds bands the Beefeaters and the Jet Set through their groundbreaking folk-rock and country-rock incarnations and culminating with the absolutely smokin' Clarence White era and the mid-'70s reunion line-ups, the collection makes a strong case for the Byrds being perhaps the single most important American rock band. While Roger McGuinn was always the leader of the band (and its one constant member) it's startling to consider the number of musical giants that passed through the band, including David Crosby, Chris Hillman, Gene Clark, Gram Parsons, and the aforementioned White. The group's originals--from "I"ll Feel A Whole Better" to "Eight Miles High" to "Drug Store Truck Drivin' Man"--cast the Byrds as a brilliant songwriters collective; however, their ability to boldly interpret the work of others (ultimately making it their own) helped bridge the gaps between country, folk, rock & roll, and the Love Generation. The talent, legacy, and sheer beauty of the Byrds music can not be underestimated, and THERE IS A SEASON ensures that won't happen. This 4 CD/DVD set, personally overseen by Roger McGuinn and Chris Hillman, includes 99 audio tracks including 5 unissued tracks. All the key singles and album tracks, as well as pre-Byrds recordings and material unearthed while reissuing the Byrds catalog is included. The DVD includes 10 previously unreleased TV appearances from 1065-1967. Also included are extensive liner notes by Rolling Stone's David Fricke, as well as intros by Tom Petty, Gary Louris (of the Jayhawks), and other admirers. Adapter: Pete Seeger . The Byrds: Gram Parsons (vocals, guitar, keyboards); David Crosby, Roger McGuinn (vocals, guitar); Chris Hillman (mandolin, bass guitar); Kevin Kelly, Michael Clarke (drums). Personnel: Earl Scruggs (banjo); Eric White (harmonica). Audio Mixers: Jen Wyler; Vic Anesini. Liner Note Authors: Roger McGuinn; Gary Louris; Tom Petty. Recording information: Colden Hall, Queens College (??/??/1964-08/08/1990); Radiohuset (Studio 4), Stockholm, Sweden (??/??/1964-08/08/1990); The Felt Forum (??/??/1964-08/08/1990); The Fillmore East (??/??/1964-08/08/1990); The Fillmore West (??/??/1964-08/08/1990). Complete Columbia Albums Collection buy CD music THE EMITT RHODES RECORDINGS 1969-1973 collects all four albums the singer/songwriter/musical wiz recorded over that period of time and adds one extra track (the 1973 single "Tame the Lion"). The set starts off with the album Rhodes recorded after his band, the Merry-Go-Round, broke up in 1969. The songs are a mix of newly written ones and Merry-Go-Round leftovers recorded with studio pros filling in for the band. But it is his actual debut, 1970's EMMITT RHODES, that is the best of the bunch; in fact, it is one of the best pop records of the '70s, and sounds like what would have happened had Paul McCartney saved up his most emotionally powerful and melodically rich post-Beatles' songs and recorded them with Badfinger as his backing band. Each song sounds like it should have been a hit single, from the heart-breakingly direct "Long Time No See" or the deceptively jubilant breakup song "With My Face on the Floor," to the anthemic George Harrison-esque "Live Till You Die" or the rollicking "Fresh as a Daisy." The pacing, sound, and feel of the record are as near perfect as you could hope, and the most impressive feat is that Rhodes did everything on the record himself. His next album, 1971's MIRROR, repeats the same basic formula as EMITT RHODES but has fewer knockout songs, and there are some hard rock (on the title track) and blues (on "I'm a Cruiser") influences creeping in around the edges and scuffing up the perfect pop. By the time of FAREWELL TO PARADISE, though, the twin factors of pressure from the record company and Rhodes' increasing perfectionism led to his recording a melancholy, downhearted album that has far less pop and far more introspection in its soul. Hearing it in context of his previous work shows just how much Rhodes had begun to change, and it makes it even more of a loss that Rhodes basically walked away from his career at the age of 24. THE EMITT RHODES RECORDINGS 1969-1973 is essential to any fan of late-'60s/early-'70s pop music and hats off to Hip-O Select for giving Rhodes the attention he deserves. Liner Note Authors: Lance Freed; Scott Schinder. Author: Emitt Rhodes. Photographers: Jim McCrary; Ed Caraeff; Andrew Sackheim. Arrangers: Emitt Rhodes; Ian Freebairn-Smith; Bob Thompson ; Larry Marks; Perry Botkin, Jr.; Bob Thompson . Complete Columbia Albums Collection album for sale For their first new album in nine years, Jefferson Starship taps into its folk roots, turning out an acoustic album consisting mostly of covers of folk classics. Tackling tunes by great '60s singer/songwriters like Bob Dylan, Phil Ochs, and Richard Farina, as well as more traditional folk fare, the Starship reminds us that folk-rock's been part of their agenda since the Airplane days. Original Airplaners Paul Kantner, Jack Casady, and Marty Balin are on hand for the journey, with a few different female vocalists gamely following in Grace Slick's imposing footsteps. Jefferson Starship: Marty Balin, Darby Gould, David Freiberg, David Grisman, David LaFlamme, Grace Slick, Paul Kantner, Prairie Prince, Cathy Richardson.
