Rocks album for sale Product Description
One of the reasons why Aerosmith, after a number of creatively lean years, are still given legendary credence and an eager ear with each new release, Rocks encapsulated the very essence of rock 'n' roll. They may have been the target of detractors who still pinned them as nothing more than a poor man's Rolling Stones, but Rocks pioneered a strength and swagger and real depth that remains very nearly unsurpassed. ...See Full Description

| when aerosmith rocked this is when the toxic twins were at they're best. joe was riffing his butt off and steven wasn't the ballad master. grinding, funky, riffy rock at it's best. maybe drugs help create some timeless art like this. By rick (rome, n.y.) This review is for a different format. |
| Top 10 Hard Rock albums of ALL TIME This is not only Aerosmith's zenith in terms of song writing and delivery, but it stands as one of the best albums ever! Back In The Saddle is not your routine hard rock thunder and has never been duplicated. Last Child is hard rock funk blues and the rest of the album is killer riff after killer riff. Listen to Tyler and Perry's dual vocals on Combination -- a very underrated song. Bottom line is that every rock star on the planet will tell you what this album means to them. It is a must have for any rock fan. By Jarod (Portland OR) This review is for a different format. |
| The rock'n-est Aerosmith album This is one of the baddest a- hard rock albums ever made. These guys were so cool on this album that a few days on the sun wouldn't have heated them up. Some major mean riffs by Perry and incredible singing by Tyler plus an eerie, cool song by Brad Whitford (No Fault). Back in '78 when I read the liner notes that Perry played a 6- or 8-string bass on "Back in the Saddle" I thought "wow, man-that blows my mind". "Last Child" is a cool and funky ballad with crisp guitar sound. "Sick as a Dog" was the signature Aerosmith song back in the day. Of course hard rock albums in those days always had to end with a whimpy piano ballad written to one of their girlfriends. This album is mixed extremely well. I always thought Aerosmith was going to keep along these lines and become a major hard rock band and produce more "Rocks" albums but Tyler abandonded that and turned it into a band that made all sorts of weird chicken noises with idiotic lyrics and rhymes. No longer cool. By ftonylittle (Philly PA) This review is for a different format. |
| from an old fart I'm 43 years old i owned Aerosmith "Rocks" on 8-track tape (along with "Toys in the Attic") Since its almost 30 years later I get the songs from both albums confused. I remember I got them at the same time. In my opinion they go together. Both Albums were part of the soundtrack of my adolesence. I recently became nostalgic and bought the "Rocks" CD. Damn what a sweet Albums it was. I had not heard some of these songs since i was 14. For me one of the highlights which was not a hit was "A lick and a Promise". They just tore it up on that one. Over the years I always heard "Back in the Saddle", "Rats in the Cellar", and "Last Child" on classic Rock stations, but I forgot about the other songs. Think i'll get "Toys in the Attic Next". | a perfect title at one time mr. steven tyler made the comment for aerosmiths title for their 4th album Rocks. his answer "because it does". and he was'nt kidding. This was the first record from what I remember of buying aerosmith. I was totally and I mean totally BLOWN away. probably one of the most hard rockin albums that I have ever heard. Every track smokes. Back in the saddle-excellent,last child-excellent, Rats in the cellar-excellent and etc. etc.etc. well you get the picture. This is one record that steven and the boys would not be able to top. and they know that.since 1976 aerosmith has released some classic stuff.but this album is definetly mindblowing. If your new to aerosmith or just want to see how the big boys do it. Go with Rocks and see if you'll listen to any thing else for awhile.
