| The Lyrical Side of John Coltrane
Lush Life songs This recording presents the lyrical side of John Coltrane. Whether one listens to the title track, which has an "after-hours" feel reminiscent of Coleman Hawkins or Ben Webster, or the rich and lively harmonic freedom of "Like Someone in Love," these performances emphasize melody rather than Trane's famous "sheets of sound" (although you'll hear them too). The album is rounded out by a blues number and a swinging hard-bop styled "I Hear a Rhapsody." This might be the Coltrane album for listeners who may not think they like his music, but it is definitely a great performance for Coltrane fans and Jazz fans looking to own the classic great recordings.

| Coltrane always searching for the new
This album contains two pearls of jazz: "I love you" and "Lush Life" (the last one with a magnificent solo by Byrd). A must.
